Good work Dutchman.

The sun started to get some sting when I was having lunch at the finish ... did think about the poor souls climbing Willunga Hill at the time.

Agree that a 7:30am start would make more sense on a day like today. Just schedule it at that time and be done with it ... wouldn't really be an issue for the riders I would have thought.

Well done to the Sturt players riding today. Had a good chat with Kaney and Hingey for the first 50 kms. Grundy had one of his final sessions with his mates. I think Rischbeth (sp), Coad and Evans were riding too. Think most of those blokes did the 65 km

Yesterday Wiggins crashes and ends up in hospital. Today it is his coach, ex Australian Olympian, Shane Sutton crashes and is in hospital too with bleeding on the brain. Both will be OK but highlights the need for better facilities for cyclists.

Tried the ride up the old freeway on Sunday in the afternoon heat, have always heard how hard it is getting to the kennels and then its pretty cruisy from there. Well now I know what everyone was talking about! Its a real false looking climb, once past Devils elbow its a pretty nice climb, only got to EOTH as I was running out of time.

So how is it all going?

Ive ramped up my prep for the TDU, 300kms in the last 3 weeks, all in the hills. On Tues I did the length of the expressway to Seaford and back, 50kms, then ducked out yesterday morning and climbed Belair Rd did 35 kms. Tomorrow Im going to pop my Norton's cherry.

Im confident Ill get the k's in the legs for the 25th, main focus is to drop a few KG's to assist so along with the training Im watching what I eat very closely.

Enjoyed Nortons today, geez its cycling central up and down there, Lycra everywhere!

Then headed up to Mt Lofty before a fly down the old freeway, knocked off 52 kms and 880m in climbing, to make it 180kms for the week.

Up Belair Rd and then through Coromandal valley and Flagstaff hill to home today. 29.5 kms 22.0 km ave speed.

last friday in 44 deg heat was fun going home up the expressway!!

Getting keen for RLC and TDU

Headed out yesterday morning from Flaggy before the rain, headed to the city and up Nortons when it started spitting, by the time we got to the pub it had dropped to 9.5c and was pissing down! Headed up to Lofty where it was even colder and the quick coffee made no difference, but then the coldest bit was descending down to crafers under brakes all the way that hardly worked in the wet. Decided against going down to town as planned and headed home as quick as possible via Upper Sturt Rd which was pretty sketchy. 70kms all up and had a very welcome warm shower. Was nice to feel cold again after all the recent heat.

Going to ride to work at Mt Barker tomorrow, should be fun. Hitting it hard this week and then ease off next week and I should be ready to go for the 25th.

Well 4:16:44 for 107 km today Ride like Crazy.

Average speed 25.4 km/h but managed to hit 70.4 km/h on the Gorge Rd, total ride time (breaks) 4:37:39

3608 kcal burned average HR 145 but best of all I got to ride a couple of Kms with Phil Anderson, first non-European to over wear a maillot Jaune! Top bloke didn't ask him anything about Lance was too in awe of who I was riding with.

After last Sundays 70km in the wet I did the ride to work (from Flaggy to Mt Barker) and back on Tuesday so in just over 48 hours I did 160kms in the hills, I was flat as a tac for the rest of the week, and also broke a spoke and cracked the rim at the end of the ride home. Got a new back wheel put on and cause I played cricket on Sat only went for a short 18kms yest to roll the legs over. Will do the same tomorrow and that will be it for the prep for Friday. I think ive done enough.

Weather looks like its going to be great and possibly a nice Southerly to give a nice tailwind!

Paid the Ferryman today doing the TDU community ride then riding back to Modbury from Tanunda. All up 182 Km, 7 hrs 35 min of riding, 24.7 km/h ave speed, 153 ave HR and over 7100 Kcal burnt. I hate head winds and hills.

Nice one Mods, I struggled early and that steep climb thru One Tree Hill nearly finished me off 20kms in! Got up it just when plenty walked so happy with that, after the KOM I was fine and felt good for the rest of the ride, the tailwind after Mt Pleasant was real nice :D

Last year did the ride averaging 19 kph average, got it up over 22 kph this year so getting better slowly. really enjoyed that ride, not too tough and not too hot.

I didnt see the course, but what steep climb thru One Tree Hill?

One Tree Hill Rd going up to a T junction, only about 300m long but 11% average gradient. Strava segment is called "Snake Gully Leg Killer". There was plenty of expensive carbon getting walked up the hill while I just made it without getting off on my Alloy.

Went for a recovery ride of 50kms yesterday, good to get the legs moving again, last few times Ive done these rides I havent got back on the bike for a fortnight or so, want to keep going this time.
