I was trying to pick out who you were in the race, thought you may have been the 1 who took off on the sprint lap only to get caught just after the hairpin, nice job avoiding the stack too.

are you talking about the final lap or the mid sprint, there is a sprint in the middle of the race too..
if thats the one you were talking about we chased down a group that went out early, think there was me, a tall JT rider (who won eventually), and another guy.. and cuaght them by the hairpin.. then 3 of us sprinted down the straight witht he JT rider pulling out and winning..

the guy who went out by himself on the last lap was my mate (with the JT kit on).. he won the mid sprint on sunday.. he said he was pushing 44km into that wind up the back straight and just blew up at the end.. was a fair effort though...

i missed the crash i was in front of it but saw it on the next lap.. was the chick that came off worse i think..

Will have to check it out, sounds good.

Did 60kms this morning, got up at first light and went up Main Rd across the ridge and down into Clarendon, up towards Kangarilla turning off at Bakers Gully Rd then onto Chapel Hill Rd and did the last 15 kms or so of Amy's into McLaren Vale, then came back via the Coast to vines trail before jumping on the veloway to finish. just under 3 hours. Great morning and 80% of the ride was roads I hadnt been on before.

Now to recover so the legs are fresh for Sunday, I have the skins on under my work trousers! Im a bit worried that I may have over done it today as I usually take 3-4 days to fully recover from a long ride but today was my only opportunity to get a decent pre Amy's ride in.

Might even head to the beach tonight to soak the legs, as that has helped before.

Yeah I had the 2 sprints arse about, was ambitious going alone into the wind like that! The girl didn't seem too bad when she walked past, unlike the bike with a snapped front fork!

Am thinking I may have a crack at them some time soon, see how bad I go, lol.

Do Sturt own the wooden spoon?? :D

You'll be fine.

Yep the 1st 10ks after the Kangarilla stop is tough after previous 30 ks from Willunga, but it is basically all downhill for the last 10 kms.

Doing Belair rd tonight, then EOTH and OBR tomorrow to tune up for Sunday.

Didn't order a jersey, got enough at home.

Well I did it and survived! 65km in 2hrs 53m. That includes the food and water stops where I didn't stop the clock. Actually did it faster than i thought and went up the hills reasonably comfortable.

4:08 total time for 100 km, 3:44 ride time, average speed 27.0 km/h. Went Up willunga Hill (Middle pub to the top) in 19 mins.

Was in a group for the last 20 km and we stopped or slowed down a few times for one bloke who was struggling so would have got my ride time down down to under 3:40 I reckon.

Struggled on the ride back to Hallett Cove....

<edit> checked my post and saw that over overstated my average speed by 0.7 km/h, so corrected it.

Did the 100 in just under 5 hours, but stopped at all 3 stops for about 30 min in total. Made it up Willunga Hill OK, pretty rapt with my first attempt, took it real slow and past a few that the hill had got the better of. I was so mentally and physically preparing myself for the Hill that once I got to the top I was shot and the next 20kms was a real struggle but found my legs again for the last few kms which was good.

Loved the descent down Wickams? with the road closed and being able to use both sides of the road was fantastic and great fun.

Pretty content to do the 100 for the first time ever, but have plenty of work to do the TDU.

That's a fair ride by u 2 crazy men ;)

The worst mistake I made was stopping at the 2nd food stop, still had 1 full drink bottle. Think getting off the bike then hurt the legs more than refreshed them.

Did you have any ride partners, or just did what did and find wheels to sit on?

I saw my cousin at the start who did it in about 3 & 1/2, did the first 20 mins with a mate but he left me for dead on the SEX climb and finished around half hour in front of me.

I didnt really join any groups, was happy to go solo, found it really hard to find anyone who was my pace to tail, but I did go up Willunga Hill with a nice young lass just ahead of me, kept me motivated ;)

Cant believe how good my legs feel today, although not game to jump on the bike!
