Before resorting to conspiracy's, go and watch the race. He was short shifting to save his engine.

Anyway, I have wondered if RBR and Webber have an agreement to retire immediately if he picks up a race win in the remaining 6 rounds.

Webber goes out on top, Riccardo then jumps into his RBR seat to prep for 2014.

Back in August, after a quick bit of research and taking a bit of a gamble on the dates, got tickets cheap on Air Asia ($250 return) to coincide with the Malaysian Grand Prix 23rd March next year. Provisional calendar released a few weeks ago had the GP in the same slot as this year, weekend after Melbourne....Yay. Then over the weekend Bernie announces New Jersey is in and the Malaysian race is back a week to be back to back with Bahrain.....Boo. Was having a bit of a cry to a bloke I know who is fairly high up in motorsport here and he tells me he received an email last week regarding availability of volunteers in November due to the FIA wanting to move the Melbourne race to the final race of the year. Interesting for Melbourne but PLEEEEEAAAASE move the Malaysian race back to the 16th or 23rd. PLEEEEAAAASE Bernie

I'll be lining up to see it in a couple of weeks. I had the unexpected pleasure to meet James Hunt in the QANTAS Captains Club during one of the early Adelaide GPs. He smoked Rothmans and sipped a couple of gin and tonics. I was a young bloke and terribly impressed.

Not a bad race actually.

Apparently Vettels car has traction control, which is currently not allowed in F1.

Could this undo the Red Bull dominance?

Very interesting theories.
The sound made was similar to a traction controlled car but not evidence.
He is a big left foot braker so that could be why the engine note is different, as he's on the gas with his foot still on the brake.
I think he's just better and hungrier than the rest.

Anyone catch the documentary on Monday on, IIRC, 7mate about the 1937-1938 Silver Arrows F1 teams??? Slow around corners (drum brakes and skinny tires) but they absolutely flew on the straights!!!

Everyone in F1 left foot brakes.

But it appears that RBR are using KERS below Full throttle, rather than for overtaking/defending.
KERS is perfect for traction control because of the linear increase in torque.

Explains why RBR struggled with KERS for so long.

But it doesn't explain why Webber is miles off the performance of Vettel.

Ex-Formula 1 test driver Maria de Villota found dead in hotel

Maria de Villota has been found dead in a hotel room in Sevilla.

The Spaniard was 33.

A statement on her Facebook page, signed by her family, read: "Dear friends: Maria has left us.

"She had to go to heaven like all angels. We are thankful to God for the extra year and a half that he left her with us."

De Villota suffered a life-threatening testing accident with the Marussia Formula 1 squad in July last year.

She spent a month in hospital after crashing into an articulated trailer while carrying out a straightline test for Marussia at Duxford Aerodrome.

Although she lost her right eye, she was able to make a full recovery from her other injuries, which included significant skull damage

De Villota was a former World Touring Car Championship and Superleague Formula driver, and daughter of ex-F1 racer Emilio de Villota.
