Just been asked to go to a trade show in Shanghai in December. Only been to Hong Kong before, not mainland China.

Any tips?

How long for?
They have visa free stays if it’s a short visit otherwise you will need to apply for a visa.
Absolutely wonderful city to visit and very easy to navigate the main areas

It’s a 4 day show so I guess I will be there for 5/6 days....no time for Disneyland though!

The night cruise along the Bund was bloody fantastic. One of the highlights of our trip over there.

Our first time there was about 6 weeks after it opened and seemed like half of China was there. Much better the second time

Yeah same, we were there a few months after it opened... Was really busy but i never felt overwhelmed like i have at other Disney parks... My daughters were treated like celebrities, that made me pretty uncomfortable...

My fave Disney parks in order -
1. Anaheim - can't beat the original
2. Shanghai
3. Orlando - Massive... I did prefer Busch Gardens than DW in Orlando
4. Paris - pretty run down but goes ok
5. Hong Kong - was good but much smaller than the others

Just have Japan to go

You poor bugger!
Reckon they are the worst of the Chinese airlines. Their new aircraft are comfortable enough but take some snacks as their food is inedible from experience and I love most Chinese food

Depending on the aircraft the comfort level could be ordinary or not bad. The food is really poor but they try hard with the service but just lack a bit of polish. Their English can be quite poor but friendly enough. They will keep the grog coming though [emoji3]

Well if check in is anything to go by, the trip is off to a great start, only took 15 minutes. No lounge access today so settled on a coffee @ Brunetti's. Board in 45 minutes.

China Eastern not a partner airline, is it?

Despite being in different alliances, China Eastern and Qantas have a seperate partnership and your QF status can be used. You will get Priority checkin, priority boarding and all the other benefits including lounge access.
If you are Platinum or above I’d be in the first class lounge now!
