Decent pubs in Melbourne

Heading over to Melbourne this weekend with my son to see Springsteen on Sunday night. We've managed to find the only weekend in a period of about 7 months which has no footy, league or union on in Melbourne. Were staying in Collins St and I've been to a heap of pubs around the CBD but I'm after something that has a sports bar, doesn't mind a 14yo, has a pool table and serves schnitzels! Anyone know of a pub in the CBD that would cover this?
I know heaps in Adelaide that do!

Have you been to the transport bar in Fed Square? It doesn't have a sports bar as such but it does have 3 beer gardens ;)

Actually there would probably be a few places in Fed Square you could go to.

There aren't actually that many pub type pubs in the CBD..they're all boutique type pubs that turn into "fashionable" night clubs after dark - like Young and Jacksons etc

There is a decent pub that used to have a sports bar - not sure if it still does, across the road from RMIT on Latrobe st. I think it's called the Duke of Kent.

Middle. Between mall and railway station.
Just want a pool table, schnitzel, beer and fox sports.

Turf bar is full of snobs in suits.

Mail Exchange is a big joint, with plenty of screens and you can actually have a punt there.

Don't want a punt. Only bet with sportsbet.com.au and will only be there Sat and Sun so suits should be at a minimum. A pool table a must as my young fella loves a game of pool and doesn't get much chance for it normally.

Meh. I had to carry him off the school oval when he dislocated his knee a few years back so he can return the favourite. He can just thank his lucky stars that I'm 25kgs lighter than this time last year!

Charles Dickens is good for the English Premier League on Saturday nights but a whole any other time of the week

The Duke of Kent is the best pub in the CBD... IMO.

Somewhat off topic, but enjoyed a day trip to the Yarra Valley yesterday. Headed for Yarra Glen in the morning, a pleasant 45 min drive from my place. Spotted the racecourse here and duly noted for a return visit. Lunch in Lilydale was followed by a wrong turn in Healesville... which led us to a micro brewery.... bugger! Suffered my way through a few with my brother in law, IPA's not to my taste. From there we visited a couple of wineries, Domaine Chandon the standout. Afternoon rounded out at another brewery in Coldstream. Mrs C drove us home!
