No worries, Flyer, it's exactly as Bum Crack accurately described ;)

We had rented a car to drive from Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse in the Yukon, on the road shown above in the snow picture. Part way along the road, we saw the bear near the road and stopped. He climbed the railing and walked along the centre of the road (no cars for miles) for about 200 metres, with us following a few metres behind him. He eventually climbed back over the rail, as shown above.

We'd seen bears before on these types of trips, but usually from a fair distance or just a fleeting glimpse, so we couldn't believe our luck this time. The road is one I'd driven 10 years before and is afantastic drive.

Driving in America is one of my very favourite holidays.

That's awesome R&B
I'd imagine the scenery on those drives in Alaska would be awesome.
Keen to campervan throught those parts one day, Do you reckon a campervan trip through those parts would be worthwhile.
Guess it would get pretty cold.

At this time of the year it's quite pleasant. You would have no problems driving a campervan or similar in Alaska, or any part of the US. The roads are good, scenery sensational.

I'd previously driven from Anchorage to Denali National Park (Mt McKinley) and the road would be fine for a camper van. You see a lot of Winnebago's in the US.

All of the US National Parks are fantastic, which is why I'd always forget the cities in America (once you've seen some of them once)and head into the country.
