Worth stopping over there?
Much to do for a family of 4?
Probably flying through there so considering a stop over but remember I despise Hong Kong so wont be going there if its anything close to that.

How could you despise Hong Kong? :)

Much more cleaner and less hectic than Hong Kong, but more boring and less atmosphere in my opinion.

Can take the family to Sentosa Island for a day, and to the Singapore zoo (quite good at night and much different to most zoos around the world as there are very few cages).

3 nights would be more than sufficient.

It is a big city, with big city values and "entertainments" - that'll do for me. ;)
Singapore Zoo is good, especially the night tour if it is still operating. [The separate Butterfly House appeals to kids I think. I didn't go to that.]
The day trip to Malacca is worth doing too.

For shopping I thought KL was better value than Singapore, but it may depend on what you want.
I had some suits tailored in Singapore last time I was there - good value for a fine wool and silk blend.

The great thing about travel is different peoples perspectives. I hated singapore but go to HK every year and love it. Have taken my 12 yo twice and its his favourite. We loved KL aswell, great place for day or 2 stopover with families. Best shopping value in asia
