I'm thinking about a netbook for my next trip - they're dirt cheap at the moment.

I'm getting a netbook for my trip to Adelaide as well as looking into one of those pocket camcorders (like the look of the Kodak ones at the moment)
I don't own, want or need a mobile phone so I reckon I should be able to use a netbook for Skype, email, pm's on here to contact people while I'm there and I can store video/photo's to free up sd cards and camera memory etc. and it's something I'd still use back here after the trip.
