Satellite picture rab - the town is in the foreground alongside the Ok Tedi river and the ringed bit is the Mine 12km further up the mountain. We are around 1500m up with the Mine higher again. About 5 degrees from the equator and 20km to the Irian Jaya border and it rains every day. It is a beautiful place, even the eyesore that is the Mine has a macabre attraction if only to see what man can wreak on the environment.
