Well Im doing what I swore Id never do. Going to Phuket on Sunday for 10 nights with 3 mates and staying right in the middle of the Patong party area. If I was going with a women or my kids Id stay elsewhere but I didnt have the choice as theyd already booked the trip when I decided to join them. Looking forward to the 31 degree days and 26 degree minimums but it can be wet this time . It should be one big party!

Funny you say that, the day after we left there was torrential rain, and 2 days after we left the road we walked down daily was underwater.
It rained for about half a day when we were there but that didn't worry me as I slept in and stayed in bed till 2pm watching the Buddy show, other days, a bit of a downpour for about 5 mins.
Was actually the best weather I've encountered there as not bright sun, and a bit more pleasant to walk around, mind you I still got a tan and am peeling at the moment.

It was my most fun trip ever but only did the touristy things one days, other days were just partying very hard and meeting some great local people. On the last night at a floating restaurant our host Mon told us his story from the Tsunami when he was 300 metres offshore and road out the wave on his boat but watched his wife on the beach get swept away to her death, we were all in tears. My mate had his 49th birthday at our regular bar in the Otop markets and put money over the bar to cover our drinks, even though the locals covered the cost of a marquee and food he spent over $2100 Australian!
And that's despite beers being less than $3!

Only bad thing about doing it this time of the year was that I got a cold within 2 hours of coming back and have been freezing. :(

Already saving up for my next trip to do the same!

Travelling through Thailand and Bali in a couple months with the missus on our way to Australia to hopefully see Centrals win another premiership.
Got 2 nights in Bangkok, 1 night in Pattaya, then we get an overnight train down to Koh Samui for the first part of a 9 day contiki tour which also includes Koh Tao and Koh Pha Ngan (There for full moon party as well :D ) after the contiki tour it's 4 nights in Phuket, staying in Patong, then 3 nights in Bali staying in Kuta before we fly into Darwin.
Really don't have a thing planned once we're there yet, so any ideas would be helpful.

Heading to Thailand in 6days time

Only ever been to Cook Islands overseas before so should be an eye opener.

Looks like I'm staying at same place as Piccahui! Merlin Beach Resort just out of Patong.
Then off to Koh Samui for 6 nights too.

Did anyone get a suit made and how as it?cost?

Is there anywhere to see the tigers or is that only Bangkok??

Dont swim at the beach. Theres been tourists drowning left, right and centre in the monsoon season. Also lots of blue bottles and rubbish have been washed to shore.

Tom’s International Tailors in Patong any taxi driver will get you there.
You will get what you pay for but I am very impressed with the quality of material and workmanship from them. I paid $375 for two trouser cashmere suits down to approx $175 wool suit. They seem better workmanship than others I have seen from Phuket. They also fit, which I couldn’t get here.

Where's a good place to stay in Bali? Who's the best travel agency to go through for a flight and accommodation package?

Check out agoda for accommodation.
Be wary of some of the websites like tripadvisor for accommodation recommendations as they are selective with negative feedback.
I think they must get better kickbacks from some of the places that rate high.
Cross check accommodation reviews over a number of sites.
Do your own research first and then go to the travel agency.
Quite a few of the airlines have frequent flyer type programs which are free.
It might not be of benefit this time however if you travel again it could be worthwhile.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

A lot depends on who's travelling and what you're looking for mate.

If you're taking the kids, wouldn't stay in Kuta Central or Legian, more of the party spots. We stayed just south of Kuta in Tuban, seemed a bit more family-friendly and was still only a 20 min walk into Kuta, or a $2 cab ride. We stayed at the Risata a couple of years ago.

If you're not going out into the wilderness mate, you should be fine without any.
