TNA Wrestling issued an alert via its mobile phone system in the US announcing that they are looking at promoting live events in Australia.

PWInsider reports -

TNA issued a mobile alert to its subscribers on Thursday, announcing that former World Wrestling All-Stars promoter Andrew McManus met with TNA officials to discuss the possibility of promoting TNA events in Australia.

McManus, a well known international music promoter, formed the WWA in early 2002 with a tour of Australia utilizing WCW and ECW names that hadn't been picked up by WWE after those companies folded a year prior including Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Sting, Lex Luger, and Sabu.

The company did extremely well on its early tours of Europe and Australia before WWE came into the markets and captured the audience for itself. WWA ran five PPV events, including a forgettable live show in Las Vegas, with its final event being held in May 2003, where Jeff Jarrett defeating Sting to unify the NWA and WWA championships.

Get it on TV regularly before they do start live shows.

I don't think it will happen, especially in Adelaide.

I'd love for it to happen but TNA will not be big down here except for the fans in the know for a long time.
WWE is like the AFL, they have crap product but they have a monopoly on TV rights.

If TNA got on TV down here noone would care about WEWE within months.
My son doesn't watch WWE but watches TNA weekly but to import a Sting Tshirt for him was going to cost me $80!!!
He wanted a wrestling belt to wear at EPW shows, a TNA belt woulst cost me about $90 to import but we can pick up WWE belst from Kmart or Target for $25 so we went that way.

You get the drift, AFL, like WWE shows how marketing will get the fools in ahead of quality.

I agree, there should be more wrestling on TV especially on free to air. The only wrestling on FTA is on C31 with some local stuff.

Anyone ever see that MTV wrestling called Wrestling Society X?
God it was some of the lamest shite i've seen on TV, put the fake back into professional wrestling.
Was hilarious but wore thin after three minutes.

I didn't mind it. Think it lasted 3 weeks before MTV axed it. It was something different, which is certainly not what WWE and TNA are offering at the moment.

Yeah I saw it, I downloaded the first 2 episodes, didn't mind it as the athleticism was outstanding, it was all action but didn't float my boat.

Check out Ring Of Honor if you like high-flying/technical matches without the silliness that the MTV show had.
