He is playing in the ABA with the Maryland Nighthawks and despite Mark Aiston on 10's sports news converting his height to 7 foot 6 he is actually 7 foot 9. China should have a reasonably good front court come the next Olympics or World Championship. This bloke will force Yao Ming to play at Power Forward as he is only 7 feet 6! They have a couple of other talls around 7 feet 4 and 7 feet 2 as well!

A couple of quotes of the net:

"We would be interested in a player of some repute anywhere in the world, especially one who's 7-9. ... As (former Utah Jazz coach) Frank Layden always said, 'You can't teach height."'

Sun has been working out daily for one and half weeks with Nighthawks guard Randy Gill, who said of his new center: "Every day, somebody's going to get dunked on."

Looked like he'd never seen a basketball on the TV last night.

Struggled to dribble the ball!

He'd be good for 2-3 blocks a game.

And the novelty factor.

Poor man's Mark Eaton or Manute Bol?

Think he had some sort of informal workouts with the Phoenix Suns before the current season.
Would say that he'll catch on somewhere eventually simply for the height factor.
There was a guy from North Korea about 12 years ago who ended up going by the name of "Michael" Ri and he is 7 foot 9 but no teams were allowed to sign him due to America's trade sanctions with North Korea. He tried to get Canadian citizenship but I don't know what became of him as he never set foot on an NBA court.

I think the trade restrictions even prevented him playing in the minor pro's in the USA. I recall he ended up with some illness or condition as a result of his height which quite often happens to this abnormally tall giants.
