Well, as a big holden man, always have, go to the Clipsal, have all the holden jackets & shirts, drive a commodore, etc, I was gutted with the last race today. Looking forward to a shoot out over the three races, but the obvious blocking by the Holden team mates was not in the "spirit".
Methinks a fair result would be to call the championship a draw, but i cant see that happening.
Glad it's not my job to sort it out, this one will go to the courts and take months to tidy up.

Agreed Borat, it was so beautifully set up for a big finish and was a fizzle.
I agree about a draw but if I was Rick Kelly I wouldn't be printing up the championship Tshirts quite yet, the hierachy have set some precedents in the past and if they adhere to them he'll be coming 2nd.
Shame too as even though Lowndes outdrove Kelly in the first 2 races I thought Kelly drove smarter as Lowndes was too reckless for my liking with the way the championship sat, oh how that all changed in the last race!
Only thing that might save Kelly is that the major damage to Lowndes car was done by Wil Davidson and it wasn't the initial impact that caused it.
A nightmare for the V8 management.

will be very intersting how this turns out.
The stwerds have already confirmed keely is at fault as they gave him a pit lane drive through penatly, now it comes down to was the drive through enough?
just a point wasnt the rule that you had to be up to the B piller before you could have be able to get away with making contact?
I hope Lowdes gets it, but is sad it all has come down to this.

Motor racing, first and formost, is a team sport. Dont think Whincup wouldn't have done the same thing if he had the chance. The incident in the last race was more of a racing incident than anything else. Both drivers went for the same piece of tarmac at the same time. Kelly didn't bunt Lowndes off ala Senna v Prost 1990. The whole V8 Supercar thing of no racing for 95% of the race is BS.
This probably will end up in the courts, more because Daine is a whinger, not because Lowndes was shafted.
The day the championship is called a draw is the day the sport becomes as weak and pathetic as general society has become.

Tonight, the 888 protest was dismissed with Investigating and Prosecuting Officer Peter Wollerman finding in favour of Rick Kelly. 888 are now taking it to a stewards hearing which will be held tomorrow (Monday).

As a neutral viewer of the sport, I think Lowndes deserves to be awarded the championship. Clearly had the quicker car. Two things I didn't like though.
1. Tander getting black flagged. What ever happened to racing for position. Tander was racing for third in the championship. If Lowndes was quicker, he could of got past in the 2nd race.
2. Lowndes lack a maturity and patience. The way he was driving, it was always going to happen.

The reason he was driving that way was because Tander was slowing him up out of the corners, you could see that as soon as Tander was given the bad sportsman ship flag he found pace and put a gap on Lowndes, but this was only after keely had been able to catch up.
The officials made it very clear at the start of the weekend that it was to be a clean race and no team tatics.

MW, time to change your brand of Sauce.
Kelly has just been confirmed as the champ.
For the sake of the sport i love, lets hope 888 take it on the chin.
This all comes back to 2 or 4 races ago when the Ford blokes were all running each other off the track.
And i still think Kelly was darn unlucky to get penalised a jump start at the Clipsal 500, when to the naked eye he didnt.

yes well how they award points in the V8's is F**KED IMO if you win you should be rewarded and have a bit of a lead but to award consistency is just crap. you will the SANFL, AFL or NRL start awarding points to team who lose i don't think so. To the powers that be at supercar HQ wake up to yourself

But the SANFL is only a 2 team contest at any given time strawbs - we reward poor kicking at goal with a behind. The V8s have many competitors, second and third (as a minimum) must be rewarded. Top 6 places IMO are worthy of reward, beyond that is dubious.

The way points are handed out for 2007 are changing, ironically Lowndes would have won if the same points system were used.
I actually have no probs with Rick Kelly winning the championship by:
a) the current points system
or
b) Garth Tander blocking Lowndes
but I do have an issue with them deducting points of Ambrose (after a stop go penalty during a race) last year (or the year before), I thought they'd set the precedent but obviously only for one brand name.
I also have an issue with Skaife and the HRT blocking him, not so much the blocking but the way the Holden factory are allowed to virtually have a 4 car team unlike any other teams.
Anyway, water under the bridge, I'll never recognise Kelly as the champ. They were virtually even going into the Grand Final and Lowndes showed over all 3 races he was quicker than Kelly, Kelly knew this and resorted to the only way he could win the championship, and good luck to him, I would have done the same.

Lowndes was way to hot headed all weekend. All he had to do was finish races ahead of Rick, not pass Skaife, Tander, etc. I was also looking forward to a close race however shit happens.
Anyway, to all you Ford fans (losers) you might like this
P.S: for anyone interested, Hamilton Holden have a HSV Dealer Team Edition Clubsport for sale. [/img]
