Dellavedova, where have I seen him before? I remember seeing him play (for Australia?) and being really, really impressed.

And Markovic!! I’ve been pumping him up for like 5 years, saying he should be in the Australian squad, nice to see he’s still around the scene.

Yeah Della was impressive in the 2 games against NZ and the Stankovic Cup in China (which we won) last year. I agree good to see Markovic in this squad he should've only improved too after a few years playing in Serbia.

Some good news in that the Minnesota Timberwolves Nathan Jawai has made himself available for the series and will be joining the squad in Perth on Sunday and Ben Allen has also joined the squad as a temporary (?) replacement for Mark Worthington due to his playing commitments in Germany.

Sounds like a good commentary team - better than Brian Taylor, Dwayne Russell and Shane Heal we had to put up with on Fox Sports last season.

Totally agree. I think Fox went down that route last season to a) plug their AFL coverage via their AFL commentators and b) to save money on a couple of proper basketball commentators. Gaze was good but Heal was rubbish.

Excellent win for the Boomers and even though the Agentinian team is young I couldn't believe how structure-less they looked. I thought both Newley and Loughton were very impressive. Looks like Loughton has improved with the year in Europe and figures to be a great pick up for Cairns in the NBL.

Game 2 tomorrow at 5:30pm.

Really impressed! Obviously Argentina are basically playing their second team, but we looked awesome. Our current squad has been coming together for a few years now and it'll only get stronger. We have HUGE potential in this current group.

Mills looked excellent, as did Gibson, extremely impressed with Loughton who looks to have a huge future for Austarlia. And really pleased to see Markovic back in the Green and Gold, he looked good I thought. From memory had 5 points, one three and the other a lovely left handed finger roll. Played really good defence too, a few steals as well as a few assist, a good start.

Nevill was good, I hope Jawai gets fitter as he's a big asset to the Boomers.

Ingles and Newley get stronger and more complete players each time I see them which is encouraging.

We played strong defence, had lots of different looks, overall a good start. Will be fun to support the Boomers over the next 5+ years.

http://www.bigpondsport.com/brown-pleased-with-performance/tabid/91/newsid/55194/default.aspx

Brown has made it clear to guards Damian Martin, Adam Gibson and Steven Markovic that the shooting guard spot is what is up for grabs in the team to play in Turkey with Mills and Bruton the standout point guards, and he was impressed with the output from all three on Friday.

'I thought they (Martin, Gibson, Markovic) got after it and embraced the role that we put to them. Patty and CJ are our point guards, so people that used to be point guards aren't going to be so they have to find a way to make this team,' Brown said.

'Defensive roles as two guards is what they need to be and our group is more balanced once they stamp off on their roles. They know that's the only way they will make this team and I'm not looking for third point guards, I'm looking for two guards who can crawl into people and those guys did that.'

Seems like 2 of the 3 will make the squad and who does everyone think it'll be? I'm hoping for Markovic, I am biased, but I think he's the best of the trio, and Gibson. Martin did impress me last night though.

In the article it mentions the additions to the team come Turkey: Worthington, CJ Bruton, Nielsen, Andersen and Barlow.

Barlow is one of my favourites, good to see his name mentioned.

Squad size of 16 is mentioned, great competition for spots which is always good.
