Tour Down Under....

Postby A Mum » Sat Jan 16, 2010 4:50 pm

Starts this week obviously O:)

Who's going to catch a glimpse ??
We are lucky enough that it virtually rides straight past our front door so will probably venture out for a bit of a look.

And although some are saying it's a political publicity stunt... etc.... etc....
I think it's great that Lance Armstrong did a 'all in bike ride' this morning.

O:)

Friday's is going straight past our house in the hills, and I'm doing the community challenge tour, 160km. So won't see the pro's until their final sprint to the line.

Going in for a look this afternoon and again next Sunday.

Have been on holidays for the last 4 weeks....back to work in the week the tour is on... :(
Hoping I might be able to get Friday off to head out to Norwood for a look at the start, the way the towns and suburbs come alive with the stage starts at finishes is sensational.
Trust the process.

I'll be getting along to the final stage on Sunday.

Can't wait. I'm hoping to get a few cheeky snaps of big Lance, Cadel, Oscar Periero, Alejandro Valverde, plus Stu O'Grady and Robbie McEwan.

It would have been great to see a few more of the real big guns like Fabian Cancellara, Brad Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Thor Hushovd and Alberto Contador.

The TDU is a brilliant event IMO.

I watched it on SBS yesterday and it was fantastic to see so many people out supporting the event and lining the streets showing their support. I'm heading to town Wednesday and I will be heading to Unley on Thursday to catch the start of Stage 3. Looking forward to it.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Just got back from Wickham Hill.
Absolutely fantastic to have them go past just a metre away. Felt like putting the old coathanger out and catching a few.
Mrs yetti, daughter yetti and grandson yetti all got very excited to look Lance in the eye.
With the pace off just before the top, and the field spread a little it was easy to pick out the riders.

I would suggest if you have time to go up Willunga Hill on Saturday that is the best place for a viewng. We took the deck chairs up Wickhams Hill at 11.45 and waited 45 minutes till they got there.
Heaps of merchandise given out.
