Started yesterday.

18 y/o Victorian Olivia Rogoswska took the first set off world #1 Safina.

She's about to lose the second and will undoubtably lose but she's shown awesome signs.

Not quite right - although born in Russia, Anastasia Rodionova now competes for Australia and is still in.

Federer takes the 3rd set 7-5.

He now leads 2 sets to 1. 4-6 6-3 7-5

Lleyton is putting up a great fight but the result seems inevitable unfortunately.

Oudin upsets Sharapova in US Open
US OPEN
Venue: Flushing Meadows, New York Date: 31 August - 13 September
BBC coverage: Live text commentaries on the website from 1600 BST each day, regular updates on 5 live, full commentary on 5 live sports extra in week two, both finals on 5 live

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oudin surprised Jelena Jankovic in the third round of this year's Wimbledon
Unseeded Melanie Oudin extended her run into the fourth round of the US Open with a 3-6 6-4 7-5 win over former world number one Maria Sharapova.

The 17-year-old American, who knocked out fourth seed Elena Dementieva in the previous round, hit a string of running winners to the delight of the crowd.

Sharapova struggled with an existing injury to her right shoulder and her faulty serve produced 21 double faults.

"She made double faults on important points," said Oudin.

Nadia Petrova is next up for Oudin after the Russian's win over Jie Zheng.

"I'm still realising I have beaten Maria Sharapova on Arthur Ashe Stadium in the third round of the US Open," added Oudin, following her victory in just under three hours.

"I have played three Russians so far, Nadia Petrova is a good player but I think it will be a good match."

Serena Williams out of the US Open in dramatic fashion.

Was foot faulted then went on a tirade of abuse towards the line ref.
Spectators behind the line ref started to abuse Serena because of what she was allegedly saying.
Serena then goes back for a second round of abuse and racket pointing to the line ref.
Then the main ref called the line ref over and asked the line ref (who appeared to be distressed) what she said to her and allegedly she said "i'm going to shove this ball down your throat and gonna kill you"
Serena received a point penalty for bad sportsmanship which happened to be on match point and lost the match 6-4 7-5
Serena had a code violation in set one.

At the Press conference Serena can't remember what she said to the line ref  8)
She also denies anything really happened

Federer's shot to set up Match point was just plain ridiculous....

On such a huge point the fact he knew he could pull it off* and he did just speaks volumes on how ridiculous this bloke is...

Whattashot !!

No way its the lack of woman tennis because nowadays theres a lot more at the top getting beaten by new players. Plus not that long ago she was the world no.1. just had some time off to start a family
