Rumour doing the rounds on various internet sites that Team Vodaphone are jumping over to Holden cars next year, also will be preparing cars for Paul Morris.
Lowndes Ford contract expires at the years end, and TV havent been happy with Ford's support this year.
Very, very interesting if true !!!

Wouldn't surprise me and I wouldn't actually blame them. Ford screwed them over IMO.
There's no mention of the Ford brand anywhere on their cars at present.
Would be a devastating blow for the Blue Oval. Their next best prospect is DJR which is also a non-Ford backed team. The only two teams which are ford supported are SBR and FPR and neither is setting the world on fire...

The decent Ford teams this year are the ones which have Triple 8 cars - Team Vodaphone, DJR and the Wilson Security cars of Coulthard and Patrizzi. The later two would lose their technical backing if TV go to Holden, so the blow to Ford by this move would be very large indeed.
Hope it happens, would love to see Lowndes back in a Holden.

With no Lowndes or Whincup, Ford only have one star - Winterbottom...
Courtney's quick but too hit and miss and as for the rest, they're never going to be championship material...
Ford will rue the day they decided to cut 888's funding.

Well the UK Triple 8 arm already run Vauxhall's in the BTCC so they don't seem to mind dealing with the General........

Yep, and if they move away from Ford and go to Holden, you can guarantee that Holden will do what they can to make sure they look after them!

By all reports, the new deal will see Team Vodaphone still supply Ford cars to DJR and Wilson, while running Holdens themselves and to Paul Morris.
Very complicated and messy, but really highlights that TV/Triple8/Prodrive are first and foremost an engineering company.
The whole mess is very typical of Ford's involvement in motorsport over the years. They jump in all gun's blazing, then withdraw their support, then down the track jump in again.
It will be interesting how this impacts on HRT and Tom Walkinshaw's involvement. They have been pushing for more money from GM for a while, and wouldnt be too happy if a bucket load of cash has been thrown Team Vodaphones way.

will be good to watch Tom Walkinshaw have a cry ove not getting enough $ from GMH because alot of it has been syphoned off to TV

Surely TV's impact on HRT will be huge, from a market-share point of view.
Every man and his dog has a HRT hat or tshirt at Clipsal every year, and HRT are sh!t at the moment ! A new, successful Holden team should attract a lot of support.
Funny, GM can throw barrels full of money at racing teams, but are cutting back shifts at Elizabeth...

From watching the news reports today, it appears it will be confirmed in a few hours and the deal will see 888 in Holdens for the next 3 years.
Excellent news, as someone who supports Holden but has always had a soft spot for Lowndes this is just brilliant, always knew he would be back in a Holden one day

I guess that means Lowndsey will have to hide his first and favourite car again! Oh well, at least it got an airing for a few years!
I wonder if Ford will try to disown me too since I drive a red and white XR6.

No comment from Lowndes at this stage - he is still contracted to Ford until years end, so would not be allowed to make a pro-Holden statement.

not a rumour its confirmed. Good to see lowdnes BACK where he belongs. Lowdnes not at the launch today because his ford contract prevented him being there.

Holden fans wont get too upset if Ford continues their dominance for the rest of the season now as no matter what there will be No 1 on a Commodore next year now.
Weird situation.
