Can Tiger do it again, or time for a new champion to emerge?
While there is a perception the Australian contingent is weaker outside Geoff Ogilvy (according to many dismissive US sportswriters anyway), I will watch James Nitties and Michael Sim with a lot of interest. The latter, in particular, is a real emerging talent and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him up there in the third round.
Otherwise, Paul Casey should be suited by anticipated wet and wild conditions.

Michael Sim has every chance of a top 25 showing, meticulous attention to detail and the appropriate mindset to succeed at a major - In particular the US Open. Nitties, on the other hand, is grossly over-rated. I'll gladly eat my words if he makes the cut - But i highly doubt it.

do people think they will get in enough play to have a winner or will it be called off due to rain.

With the weather forecast and the state of the course from the images this morning - I highly doubt it.
Looks like the course doesn't drain the water too efficiently.

do you know what the process is there. How long do they give it before they call the tournament off. Do they have the right to play on the monday and tuesday if needed.
If there is no play tonight will that be it or can they turn into a 36 hole tournament.

Not too sure, but i'd assume if they can't complete 1st rounds by day 2, then they'd be really struggling.....
I think the furthest they'll extend the tournament is till Monday.

They had the rules bloke from the USGA on Fox Sports News saying that they'll be playing 72 holes no matter when it finishes. They had a women's US Open a while ago that didn't finish til Monday, and then there was an 18 hole playoff on Tuesday! So they'll be playing 72 holes come hell or high water. The latter of which could be possible by the sounds!

Mike Weir heads the leaderboard after shooting a pretty amazing 6 under 64 !!
Only the 12th player in US Open history to shoot a 64 and he had a double bogey in the round !!

If Weir's score remained the benchmark, the cut would be around +4. That would leave some very big names in real danger after their first round.
Tiger Woods (+4)
Justin Rose (+4)
Luke Donald and Angel Cabrera (both +4)
Appleby and Allenby (+5)
Padraig Harrington (+6)
Boo Weekley (+9)
Chad Campbell (+10)
The punter in the "Gambling Room" who backed Ricky Barnes at $1001 would be on good terms with themselves, as he sits -3, with Weir still at -6 after his first hole.

Torrential rain again for the start of the third round, but current leaderboard (none of this list has teed off for the third round)
Barnes: -8
Glover: -7

Duval: -3
Hanson: -3

Three Australians made the cut: Michael Sim, Geoff Ogilvy and Adam Scott. Of those, Sim has started his round and is even for the tournament, -1 for the round after 6. Ogilvy and Scott are both +2 for the round, +2 for the tournament.
Tiger Woods is +3 for the tournament, parring the opening hole. The cut was +4

Tiger stalking, but surely he has left his run too late. Never say never with this bloke though.
By the way, who is the tool hosting the golf on OneHd? Knows nothing.
