A mate of mine and his misses decided to take their 5 week old child along with them to the clipsal on Thursday. Expecting to pay around $10 if anything for their infant to get through the gates, they were rudely shocked when they were charged, wait for it............................................... $37.50

Under 12 are supposed to be free, when accompanied by a paying adult.

Children 12 years and under admitted free to the V8 Supercar Paddock when accompanied by a paying V8 Supercar Paddock ticket holder.

Grandstand seating

Children will not be admitted to a grandstand or corporate facility unless in possession of a grandstand/corporate facility ticket/credential (ie no children on laps).

On face value, unless they were trying to go into the grandstand, would seem that your mate was were screwed by a gate person that did not understand the ticketing rules. If it was me I would be ringing them and having a bit of a bitch -- who knows free tickets & apology.
