Sporting Rivalries

Postby Pidge » Wed Feb 04, 2009 6:51 pm

There are many sporting rivalries across all sports.

Some of the bigger ones over recent years have been:

Sydney vs West Coast (AFL)
Adelaide vs Melbourne (Football)
Australia vs England (Cricket)
Australia vs India (Cricket)

Feel free to add more.

Might be worth leaving soccer out... the list is almost endless...any town/city with more than one team for starters...
Hibs v Hearts
Man Utd v City
Sheff Wed v Utd

In 6 Nations Rugby Union

Everybody v Wales (never found anyone who knows why but we all hate the shaggers :-?? it's traditional...probably a class thing)
Everybody v England (it's a history thing Agincourt, Highland clearances, the whole Ireland thing etc etc etc)

Collingwood Vs Kangaroos because the Magpies refuse to wear an away strip and force the Roos to wear theirs at their own home games.

The SA state side wore the black and white, then someone from Collingwood saw us wear it and thought that the bird was a magpie and stole it.

We just abide by the SAAFL rules - we entered the League before them so they can find another guernsey

Do they play in harder in their home guernsey?
