What do you prefer American Football, League or Union?

They are all similar games IMO but to me American Football is clearly the best, much more happens in it, there are more scoring options, they hit harder, much more athletic and is the biggest attended sport in the world

The rules take a while to get used to but once you know whats going on its a fascinating game being tactical, technical, brutal and elegant all at the same time

ive never been able to get into the Rugby's, particularly Union, a game that is decided by penalities 90% of the time cant be that interesting...League aint too bad and will watch SOO but wont go out of my way to watch NRL

Vote! and comment

No question for me...rugby union. Was brought up watching it...father played...grew up barracking for Munster, Ireland and then every military base I was stationed at.

American football is ok but have never got to see it often enough to get into it.

The other one is the code that is never spoken of. Just saying it's name would have you bannished from the family home...played by the Welsh and those people that live in the North

JAS

union is a much more flowing game than the other 2 so i voted for it, i'd have gridiron (sorry philh) last in those 3 but i do rate it better than synchronised swimming

Ditto

Gridiron is too stop start and having different teams for different jobs doesn't appeal to me.
Union is shocking to watch at times because the amount of knock ons, etc missed because its so crowded but it'd probably the game I'd prefer to play.

Not a real fan of the American Football, too stop start for my liking.

Don't mind a little bit of League or Union, but not a huge fan.

Union for me, but still always thinking back.

Still dont like the lifting in the lineout, rule changes for the sake of it sometimes

League easliy for me. big hits and the fact that you can see pretty much evrything in the one shot on tv makes it great to watch when you can't get to the game.
as has been said union is to congested and penalties that are hard to understand seem to have a big impact. and if i have a spare 4 hours tomorrow to watch 60 minutes of action .... probably still won't, maybe the tactics are good but to boredom in between nullifies any positives about it.

NFL easily for mine, but enjoy watching all at times when the mood strikes (or they are big games)

There is only one Game They Play in Heaven and yes, I was brought up on Union so that does make a difference.
Mr MK and I also love gridiron and know the game backwards. I have also been to watch the Jets play at Giant Stadium which was an enormous experience.
League I don't like and I have given it many chances.

NFL hands down. Glad Ten have it this year because the only fix i used to have besides the Superbowl was Madden on Playstation.

The Superbowl was a very tight game...wont spoil it for people that want to wait for the replay at 8.30.

Interesting poll, pretty even, no one has seemed to put up an arguement why they like Union other than I follow it cause of my family.....think the superbowl confirmed thats its No 1 yesterday in the public eye, drama filled and the hardest hits out of these games, sure they wear helmets but that just means they go in head first!

I will for you Dutchy

My credentials:

1. I played gridiron for the Eastside Razorbacks for one season. I played left tackle which is on the line. Dont believe the bollocks about the players wearing padding and helmets and therefore are pussies. It is just like calling swordsmen pussies for using swords. You wear it and he wears it - it is even - you squat 5 feet from each other and hit - I dont know what the psi is, but I had to build my neck and shoulder muscles up to play. I went from a 42 to a 45 collar in a month. I played it to keep the weight off over summer but went from 92kgs to 100kgs because I had to to compete.

2. Rugby Union - I played 2 seasons overseas because of the lack of Aussie Rules. Did OK because I knew the rules and enjoy the hard side of sport, BUT, f#%$^%, it is the scariest game I have ever played. 184cm and 100kgs - I was a shrimp! I still travel across the world to watch rugby

3. Although I have been a Manly Leagues Club member for 16 years, I have never seen a live game. I saw one Adelaide Rams match, but it was on the tv in the Chappell Bar. Why am I a member - got pissed one night and a mate took me there and I have just paid it every year since; just in case. Never played because I had no inclination, so my comments should be read with this in mind

Now, my views on why Union is the best:

Global sport compared to the other two
Game of chess
Technical - you need brains and discipline
Compared to League - not just hit up and bash
A real scrum - NFL and Union have it - League is a f#%^ joke
When you hit the dirt - watch out - the others cater for softness because they stop dead
A real lineout (other than the argument about lifting brod)
The global rugby family - you have to experience it to believe it.

My opinion only........................
