Lance Armstrong / Tour Down Under

Postby Browny25 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 1:44 pm

Has anyone managed to see a glimpse of the champion on our SA roads!?

Do many people plan to take time off and go have a look during any of the stages during the TDU?

I have to admit it but Cornsey is right on the money with his column in today's Advertiser, there is many other brilliant bike riders competing in the TDU not just Lance. I guess at least this year the paper headlines isnt Adelaide's Own Stuard O'Grady.

The media coverage has been quite embarrasing. For once I can't help but agree with Cornes.

To be honest if he was riding down my street I wouldn't even bother going out the front to watch him zoom by. I admire the guy's athletecism but I dont see why people line the streets to watch bikes go past at 60kms per our, might as well as stand on South Rd watching cars go by.
Plus if I saw guys on bikes in tight lycra I'd just think of the idiots that ride their bikes into town that constantly frustrate me on the road with their attitude.

I'm with you wedge.
Lot of admiration for the guy, but no interest whatsoever in facing the traffic/crowds to see him for .7 of a second.

i'm not sure what it's like at any other stage, as i've only ever been to the Aldinga stage, but it's an awesome day down here on the beach! maybe because it's always the saturday we get it, which would mean a lot more people are able to make it down tto have a look.

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
