My new Okuma Fly Reel

Postby Mickyj » Sat Jan 03, 2009 1:38 pm

Seeing I'm not the type to run out and buy anything on the spur of a moment. And was thinking of changing from my first reel after I broke my other reel, when I had that run in with that other fisherman last week.
When I got home from my session this morning I got to thinking that my rod in fact may be an 8 weight .
So with my fly rod I decided to head to a tackle shop.Found on the rod where it said 6 weight and they didn't have many reels in stock .But they did have this graphite (wont rust  )Okuma reel and the price was right for me.And talking with the chap it is large arbour like my Irish reel unlike the shakespear reel .

I wish I could say it handled the large fish well .Except this session once again no fish.

BUT it was like having my old Irish reel back it felt great on the rod and I was casting better again.

Today I was on Settlers Drive beach at west lakes.and before anyone goes :Hangman: that you just gave a spot away .i had to come out the water to many bait fishers took over my secret mullie spot ;) Made wading very hard was trying to follow a bait fish school but with so many lines out .
Next Time I might just try that tiny beach I was going to go to further along west lakes .
