Good question re the pricing,
being a life member and the PA annoucer I haven;t had to worry about it for a while.

Will find out and report back

As for Rd 1 results
- South City Chiefs 41 d Southern Dist Oilers 0
- Eastside Razorbacks 14 d Adelaide Eagles 12

Good crowds in especially for the late game, another last play decider.

Next Week (Sun Oct 25)
- Eagles (1-0) v Spartans (bye 1st week)
- Oilers (0-1) v Razorbacks (1-0)
- Chiefs bye

Am I right in saying the format changed a year or so ago? All the teams were called Adelaide and just had different nickname? Has that changed back now.

Will definately get out to see a few games this season. Havent been for a couple of years.

I remember Port Adelaide had as really good player, who seemed like a whole class above everyone else, he was a WR or TE from memory.

WOW! Whats happened to the Oilers? Good to see the Eagles are competitive nowadays, they were getting thumped week after week for a few years there..

Is Wendy still running things out at the Spartans Phil?

ever since i was a kid it has been known as gridiron in australia, why i presume because of the 'grids/grills' on the helmuts worn by players or the fact with all the lines on the surface it looks like a grid, but i'm only presuming that i don't know it

Gridiron v American Football

It was a source of many arguments when the sport started here in the 1980's

I think the Eagles and Chiefs are American Football Clubs, the others Gridiron Clubs.

All leagues in Australia are Gridiron Leagues.

The International Body - IFAF is American Football

Baseball, Baskettball and Ice Hockey have a North American origin but don't contain America in the sports name.

Simply Gridiron was deemed a more globally accepted term than American Football.

Aarom Kempe scored two TD's including the season openor on a 48yd TD intercept in Week 1 v the Oilers whilst Will Muriden was one of the leagues rookie sensations last year.

Last weekend was Round 2 and some close games ensued

Eagles 13 d Spartans 7
- Both teams scored on their opening drives, it was then deadlocked 7-7 until the last minute when the Eagles finally broke through.
- Whilst the Eagles dominated possession and position there were positive signs for the Spartans who proved competitive and have many new players yet to gel as a group.

Oilers 14 d Razorbacks 12
- Major, Major Upset
- Oilers coming off a 0-41 defeat just 7 days earlier.
- Razorbacks last on field loss was December 2005 (almost 3 seasons ago)

Standings
Chiefs 1 - 0 2pts +41
Eagles 1-1 2pts +4
Razorbacks 1-1 2pts =
Oilers 1-1 2pts -39
Spartans 0-1 0pts -6

This Week - Sat Nov 1
- 5pm - Oilers (1-1) v Eagles (1-1)
- 8pm - Chiefs (1-0) v Spartans (0-1)

Both Games at Pines Hockey Stadium, Gepps Cross (Next To Velodrome)

Bayman last year I recall it was $7. I couldn’t make the first couple of games but I have a CRUNCHTIME (Budget) and they are charging $3 for that so I suspect $8 with the budget.
While talking about the “CRUNCHTIME” a huge improvement on last year......I can now see the ref’s signals (not that I understand all of them). Great explanations and the Airport sponsorship has obviously allowed them to upgrade the product.
I hope they continue at the venue next year. Although a long way away, a fantastic spectator’s venue.

Gridiron SA Round 3 results

Eagles 27 d Oilers 18

Chiefs 20 d Spartans 18

Standings
Chiefs 2-0 4pts +43
Eagles 2-1 4pts +13
Razorbacks 1-1 2pts =
Oilers 1-2 2pts -48
Spartans 0-2 0pts -

This week - Rd 4 (Sat Nov 8)
5pm - Razorbacks (1-1) v Chiefs (2-0)
8pm - Spartans (0-2) v Oilers (1-2)

It's an often used cliche in sports but no doubt about it this is the most even opening to a Gridiron SA I have EVER seen.

Five of the six games decided by 10pts of less, four by a TD or less.

The Spartans were 1.26 away from their first win of the season, the Chiefs throwing an 80yd pass to Zac Bartlett to overcome a 5pt deficit to remain the sole undefeated team this season.

Over the past 23 years, once maybe twice a season a team would score three times in a game and lose. It happened twice last night.
