Must admit to me its just another round of the V8s as I watch it on TV, don't go as there's so many ferals about.
Not my scene but I love my V8s and am looking forward to it starting again but not looking forward to the traffic on Unley Rd, move it to Smithfield or something like that.
I would have paid anything to see Doc Neeson's Angels again but seeing as they put him on the same night as a dud like Santana I'll just wait for his next gig at the Gov.

Yawn.......Just another round of the touring cars for me .Bring back a real event like the Grand Prix .Watching Falcons and Commodores crawl around a street curcuit by comparison to the real thing does nothing for me .As for the garbage points system and starting again the next day if you dip out whats that all about?

fair point redden, nothing like watching 16 cars that have no relevance to our country follow each other around for a few hundred kms and win the race through pit strategies.

don't know if I'm excited about the race as such, but I've got free piss on the Thursday to look forward to - going to be trackside in the Perpetual Investments tent. Should be good fun...

Relevance to our country????omg. In my opinion nothing more boring than watching farm horses plod behind a safety car around a track totally unsuitable for them .Look the same ,sound the same .Lets bring the Nissans back into the competition to blow the family cars off the track I reckon .That Codswoth Sierra made em look stupid to .Shame they were banned .Still if you enjoy your "local class racing" go for it I hope you have a great time

Is it true that track times for the karts are very close to the V8's around the track ?? My 1992 programme for the Grand Prix has Jim Richards lap record for Touring cars at 1.40.72
S.Rindestrom lap record for 250cc Karts at 1.37.99.....
and I believe the longest straight that would favour the V8's does not even apply to the current track for the Clipsal 250x2 race so the gap could now be even worse. Yes they have made it apparently close even racing but so are sloth races.

Not sure if that is aimed at me ? If so nah not looking for a bite just expressing my opinion about the event as Crushy asked and my reasons why . Hope all those who live for it have a great time .Just wish the "Premier League" was still in town thats all.

i don't really like it either, most of the good drivers have retired or moved overseas. The track and surrounding makes it very boring aswell, very plain old, sh1ty arse track. It would be much better if there was some more competition, bring back the nissans and whoever else! my prefered team is ford though, don't like holden :) . I would much prefer to watch the grand prix, better atmosphere and cars by a long way. anyway, thats just my opinion. none the less, for those who are going, have a good one.

Sam, may be on my own yet Thursday, assuming you are in the same stand will catch up.

I note the long range weather forecast is 24....with rain for Thursday!

Rather that then 42

And Wedgie, Motor Sport is 1000000000% better live then on TV. I love it, and will spend all 4 days there from sun up to sun rise.

Go gold, get the reserved seat, then you can wander around and get back to your spot.

Sam and I have seats in the best stand in the track, and no, we aren't telling anybody where it is
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

the reason karts are quicker than the v8s is cause of their low centre of gravity and amazing accelaration, allowing them higher cornering speeds and quicker exits.
because something is fast makes them better and more enjoyable to watch? not in my opinion. atleast with v8s there is contact, passing and its not won by pit startegy no traction or launch controls, they are a much harder vehicle to drive.
the clipsal 500 isnt just about the v8s either, most people who go and enjoy it will tell you that, its a 4 day festival with an amazing atmosphere

Just for the record the F1 lap record at the time was 1.12 22.......thus the premier league

You are comparing a car that is in a completely different category than is around now, up against an open wheel race car. The Superkarts are extremely quick. The longer strait in the grand prix circuit was an advantage to the superkarts, not the Touring Cars.
