After checking the tides last night before going to bed ,I was surprised to see it was a Dodge tide today.Or at the least a day with very little tidal movement.
So with my family expecting me to go fishing(love my wife ;)) ,I hit the lake just after 6.30 AM.I walked to the spot that I caught last weeks fish in the bream comp.
I had tied a new fly last night with a dark shiny green head and fake fur tail with stuck on bead eyes .In the water it looked like a bait fish.
There were fish all over and I was surprised at the varying sizes in fish.
And with Kayaks chasing bream inshore I thought I was in with a chance of fish.
This new fly looked great in the water and was getting followed by fish. But after an hour using it I reverted back to the ole faithful green meanie fly . ;D.
After my fourth cast and kayaks moving past a fish of around 40cm followed in ole faithful but didn't take it >:(
One more cast in this spot amongst the seaweed and bang I am on and off in a few seconds .That was one small fish lost.
And I decided to head to the other side of the lake.
Reaching the other side I was straight in the water.Doing my best to cast to the middle of the lake and not making it .I suddenly thought the wind is not helping in fact it was making it very hard to cast out very far.
That was when I decided I was not going to catch a fish today :'(.And it was time to practice my casting .Standing with my back to the wind or as best I could .I started casting at a seaweed bed not to far from shore. And yes you guessed it this appeared on the end of my fly ;D ;DImage

So with my hopes rising I continued on down the beach doing the same thing casting at seaweed banks and losing another small fish :'(
And getting close to three hours trying to fish the lake on a dodge tide I decided to head home .
Cheers
And it was that small I didn't even measure it :)
