Chris Lucas sacked by Lightning - Controversial

Postby silicone skyline » Wed Oct 24, 2007 12:32 pm

I'm very interested in anyone's views on this topic.
Is it a gross misunderstanding or a case of Daddy looking after his daughte??

Oooookaayyyy.....you can't comment coz you know him well?
You can still have a personal opinion, even if it is a heavily biased one.
It's all sporting politics, i can't see y you can't divulge anything, everything has been said in the media, i want people's overall takes on this.

its a disgrace that a coach is sacked because he wasnt going to start a player the next game... obvoiusly the players father is the owner.

one thing to note 9 of the 10 players contacted Chris the next day

interestng to hear phil smyths comment that nite also ... he was DISGUSTED on how marino sacked chris

suppose the lineups in the future will probably prove what has happened.
Is obvious that the girl in question is not up to the standard of a starter in the WNBL.

From what I heard on the radio it wasn't anything to do with her skill level that was the reason she wasn't in the starting 5, it had more to do with not having a match up for her with Bendigos starting 5. If so, fair enough, stick her on the bench. If she isn't good enough, fair enough, stick her on the bench. Dont shaft the coach because of it.

Ok, here's news for ya'll.
The move to sack Lucas was a business decision.
If you can all remember, and this happened right in front of everyone, US import Britanny Wilkins was sacked by the club.
This is a girl Marino actively sort out for in the US.
Lucas dropped her.
Lucas is sacked.
Brittany is re-instated.
It all makes sense now.
It had nothing to do with his daughter at all.
While Lucas was a good coach, and still is, it has to be his dropping of Brittany Wilkins that got him fired.
Still harsh, but not quite the story we all have been led to believe.

That doesn't make the story any better, Lucas was still shafted. Why was Britanny sacked?

Lucas claimed she wasn't a good fit in the team i believe.
I agree the story doesn't sound better, but it takes the spotlight off Angela Marino and the father/daughter thing.

So there's definitely more to this than first made out.
So, why sack a coach over a US import?
Thoughts now??
What could have happened, is it black and white, you sack her, i sack you??

nup I don't believe it. Its only part of the story I think

Owner brings in two players Lucas doesn't want an import and a fringe player trying to make the first 5. gets rid of the import and benches the fringe player. coach shown the door.
