Its ok Herds 7 knot winds on Sunday. Balgy here we come.
Sorry Barcs, just seen this then mate.
FYI, northerlies at Pt Vic aren't
too bad. Looks like light NNE's predicted, which would be fine, but as ya said, you already heading to Balgowan anyway.

The worst kinds of winds are S/W's, which come straight into the Bay inside Wardang. NASTY!!

In fact, downright dangerous and even suicidal if you attempt to head back to the ramp if you get caught out. You're better off sheltering between the islands and riding it out. A lot of ppl get in strife trying to outrun it in small trailer boats. N/W's aren't too bad as long as they are 15-20, you can find shelter inside Point Pearce, inside the Bay. SE's are just plain annoying, especially in my 4.5m tinny, you just have to take ya time and end up getting SOAKED by spray coming over the starboard side.
The worst places when the S/W's hit hard or you get caught in a squall are between the two channel markers where it goes down to 2.5m and about 1.5km from the ramp where it drops off into 45ft of water. Not to mention how crucial it is to know where to safely navigate, both out of the marina with reef either side of the exit/entrance and inside the islands. Reef everywhere!

Definitely not a place for the novice or someone new to the area. Strongly recommend learning the ropes from someone who knows the area & if you can get hold of some decent charts/maps of the area, it'll give you a good idea of where the danger areas are.
Heading over there next weekend, weather pending.

Autumn weather patterns are just starting to creep in. Be good to see the back of arvo seabreezes! Probably have a crack for a red boy or two locally Saturday evening or early Sunday AM reckon. Good luck over at Balgy mate!
