If you, or anyone else for that matter, wants to get rid of a snapper or two let me know Id be happy to buy them off you. Went to get one to cook on the BBQ the other day and was amazed at the price!

Micky do you use an attractant such as Ultrabite Stimulate etc...that might help you get more hook ups.

yep use the halco one .you guys do realise places like the pat etc are not that easy to get huge numbers of fish.ive heard guys tell me they never catch anything in either water way.which to me is astounding also get told guys cant catch fish on lures .
Also heard at a local tackle shop sunday bream are to finicky right now !!!
Also got told the dodge tide is coming up and today was my fault very low tide very little to no wind .

Sunday i landed 6 fish thats a lot for many lure guys in the pat or west lakes .not the really good fishers i know but average ones like me .

Totally agree with you, I would rather catch 2/3 fish on lure than 25 on bait.

No snapper for me, too windy to get to our spot so we just bagged out on whiting.

Not having to deal with smelly bait is a big plus.

The only problem with lures is the addiction of buying them.

I totally agree but with places like anaconda having 60% off member sales i ended up with lures that are cheap and catching fish this week.the lure that landed that 26cm bream ended up costing me $3.98 works for me:)

26 gold bars and some very large gar from Balgowan on the weekend, throw in a flatty, squid, tommies and salmon trout and it was a goog day. Also kept and ate my first sweep of around 2kg. Not bad eating, might keep another one day. Great spot Balgowan. Ramp could do with an upgrade though.

It is a joke that $$ is spent on other ramps (ie. Port Wakefield dredging) while more popular ramps such as Balgowan get neglected. I have heard the ramp at Balgowan is dangerous.

It's a local council issue though. Obviously the Y.P. council don't see Balgowan boat ramp as a huge need.

Port Wakefield is in the Wakefield Regional Council and wouldn't have many boat ramps to maintain. The Y.P. would have a bucket load.

I am fairly sure the government has $$ involved with the upgrading of ramps.

Funny you should raise this point. Some serious $$ was spent upgrading the Middle Beach boat ramp with floating pontons and the like and it is used by no more than 20 people (thats for real), and the Mallala Council rate payers have to foot the bill not just for the ramp, but for the council to dig it out every 6 or 8 weeks because it fills with sand. I'm sure the State Government put some $$ into this project, its an absolute JOKE!

Another example is the Hughes ramp....they basically dredge it every month....rumour from the locals is that is the dumped the sand in a different place the ramp would not need to be dredged so often. Apparently they dump it on the side where the sand can enter straight back into the ramp.

That has to be a costly exercise.
