Oh JAS, just logged in to make sure you were updated. Well done Mit80s! Just read through your commentary and spot on. JAS as far as the NZ V Eng goes, well.... they send their big men every time and I mean BIG - doesn't account for skill. The Muliaina try you mentioned was fabulous and clearly, all the "old" blokes I mentioned last week must've read my thread because they stood up and proved me wrong.
Including O'Driscoll. Great to see his try. Egg on face = MK.
NZ - need to work on the breakdown. Lineouts - TERRIBLE. How lucky for NZ that we were playing England this week because we wouldn't have got away with that against the Irish. On the positive side, Dan kicked straight - his bread and butter is sorted as long as he breathes (and looks cute).
ENG - always great to beat the poms but the skill level for mine was woeful. Relied too much on their size I thought, no answers - does that mean no game plan? Not sure. Sixes and sevens. Relying on the breakaway ball and trying to force the mistakes - oooo what a surprise! Ollie kicked well for them meaning Wilkinson's spot is no more methinks. Can't bear the way he does the Wilkinson stand when he kicks however.
AUS - didn't recognise Matty Dunn. He has porked out to the size of ( | )
To keep Phil Waugh on the bench for as long as Deans did, well maybe I forgot that the Wallabies had a new coach but he sure made a difference when he came on. Scrum - nup. Second row in the Australian scrum needs work and I'm sure Robbie will address that, hopefully. Lotte Tiquiri played a blinder, new lease on life for him I don't know but hunger and passion - great to see. A few young players stood up to the mark - Cordingly (20) never seen him before. Nathan Sharpe as usual was stalwart for Australia.
IRE - well JAS, my goodness. What a wonderful display of spirited rugby by your boys. You would've been proud. The whole second half was fantastic and I absolutely thought the game was going their way to be honest. As I said above, O'Driscoll was instrumental but I still maintain that he's probably on his way. O'Gara played well and Herman Munster in the second row of the Irish scrum certainly made the difference in the fact that the Wallabies scrum kept turning to shit. Their running and constant attack tested the Wallabies fitness and I'm sure they'll take a lot away from their tour.
I would like to thank the Irish for bringing their best team to the Southern Hemisphere and particularly the reasons why. Press quote "we decided that there's no way we will ever win a World Cup by sending second fiddle teams down south... so we won't - England did it, so will we." Good form paddies, makes for a wonderful rugby fest for us all the way down here.
I will try and stay awake for the South Africa V Wales match which is only 15 minutes away - OK it's only 10.05pm but I managed to fall asleep last week.
It's called "Beers @ the Football".
Sleep tight JAS and good on you Mit80s!
