No offence Mickyj, but I don't think too many fishos will be heading to your secret spot anytime soon ;)

None taken bream are getting bigger but meh I'll catch them all lol
Or u can miss out on bait size ST's for the mullies
Or do u mean due to the smell stink of the pat .West lakes isnt much better with used needles and condoms laying on the ground etc.

No offence meant or taken :) just wear shoes at west lakes guys when wading

I hate this sh#@t about the shark fishing I did it off all the metro jetty's 30 years ago and Bronze'ees was what I was after.
There are plenty there 50m from the jetty.
I just needed the wind and tide to be going the right way to get the balloon out.
I cannot believe those doing it now would be doing it illegally, as the cost of the gear is not expendable.

Alaska asked a few others caught another one with the black tail this morning .
Have been told spots smooth tail and not enough black markings make it a ST .

Well I headed down to the Pat again this morning .Once again it was dark dreay overcast with the odd spit of rain.
Nothing was stirring nothing was following the lure I had put on .One of the four from sundays 60% off purchase .I met another angler didnt get his name he was having as much luck as I was .While he muttered something about West Lakes.
I headed over to the other side of the pat .Something happened the clouds parted the sun came out :D.And right in by the shore I was on to a tiny Bream and off .Couple more casts in that spot nothing.
Moving no more than 2 or 3 metres I was on to a tiny bream .I continued up this side of the pat following the sun which wasnt staying out very long .
When suddenly a bigger hit .This fish hit harder put up a bit more fight still was only 20cm but my god on this tiny lure which just had a treble on its rear .The Bream certainly fought hard.
So moving on from this fish I cast a little further and bang I'm on again. Not large but pulling hard and trying to fight landed a tiny Salmon Trout .
At this point the sun was gone I put on lure number four .Not getting any interest I walked back towards my car .
One last try in some sun and I had a hit from a larger fish but lost it .Bugger that was my morning .
So after trying all four of those 60% off lures all had hits 3 landed fish .
Two different lures landed mutli fish :)
only 1 failed to land a fish $40 worth of lure for $17 and 6 fish in two days well worth the fun :)
And my phone grrr after my 20 yo daughter couldnt get it to turn on after recharging it after it died after 2 hours of use .Guess what it worked in the shop !!!
So pictures next session I hope

Cheers

It's just good to be getting out there micky, doesn't really matter if you aren't catch much.

Back to the st tommy, easiest way to tell is next time you catch one....salmon will be smooth when you touch them and tommies will be rough.

Spent 8 nights over at Sceale bay (about 60km past port kenny) over the new years break.

Had great success with the fishing, we bagged out on KG's 2 times. got plenty of sandy's and tommys. used all the sandys for bait and some of the tommys. mates missus smoked the rest of the tommys! We also got some flat head on the first and second days, including a 57cm flat head I caught only to be pipped by my mate the next day with a 63cm flathead.

Got 5 nanni's one day when we were chasing some tuna. Couldnt find them.

Caught my first ever blue fin tuna a day later, along with about 5-6 swallow tails.

Finished off the week with some more KG's and tommys.

The weather was on and off with 3 people getting sea sick over about 5 days of fishing. Was glad it wasnt me for once. But with my mates boat, didnt have any problems with the weather, even out in the deep!

I understand my fish arent huge yet but they will get bigger again .Its all about fun(and getting used to using 2lb braid ) now when I get the details of the $500 SA Shorts holiday I've won hopefully to somewhere the fish are bigger .Wonder how many days away for just me that is :)

Damn... Iron Fist that's some nice work! That lizard is impressive.

Is there anywhere in SA that I can catch BF tuna that size from a 12ft tinny? Was going to try off of Cape Dutton last Easter but couldn't get anyone to come with me.

If you, or anyone else for that matter, wants to get rid of a snapper or two let me know Id be happy to buy them off you. Went to get one to cook on the BBQ the other day and was amazed at the price!
