Went to West lakes this morning was supposedly 17 when I left my god it was chilly in the wind.Tried two beaches lots of follows from small fish .And 1 bad cast almost resulted in a 40cm plus fish not sure what happened thought my lure was appraoching a snag in the shallows .Suddenly the water exploded and the snag swam off with my lure for a very short distance

lots off cockles mate they all big too we got 1800 in 2 hours

Mate of mine went down two weeks ago and scored 750 and it was shoulder to shoulder with everyone getting plenty. Throw in your 1800 and everyone elses catch in the time and you get what we got NOTHING on Dec 24th.
There were people there with shovels and they were getting zilch as well.
No wonder they cost $15 a kilo in the shops.
Time to lower limit.

Well another morning waking up early and seeing grey skies . Undeterred I fed myself and the cat as per the norm and headed off towards The Pat .
Well it was still overcast wind had died a little when I arrived but the heavens had started to cry lol.
Anyway I rigged up and off I headed .Not exactly saying where I was at the pat lots of structure abounded me plenty to cast at . Roughly cast number four or six and I'm amomngst some rocks not on purpose when hit .I'm on and reeling in a very tiny and hard swimming all over the place ST .
Image
Here it is even with some weed for added colour lmao.
So as the rain came down harder I took shelter for a short time and headed off walking and casting. While I did see some small fish nothing was bothering the lure that had nailed that tiny ST .So about halfway along this side of the Pat I swapped lures to a different coloured lure of the same type.
Nothing was hungry in the deeper sections nothing along the rocks or steps. So I swapped sides of the Pat .Still nothing did see the odd small bream.
Stopping at a very shallow section with mullet jumping I did manage my first Bream of the summer lmao .Two hours or more after the ST!!
Image
And in this picture u can see the lure it took
Image
I continued on my way past the glenleg sports thinggeeeee and back to my car .That I'm afraid is the end of my xmas fish back to the saltmine tomorrow!

Nice one Booney. 8) Have been some true goldbars (40cm+ YFW) getting around local, particularly slightly further north. ;) Has been a good season for them so far, which should get better with this batch of hot weather. :D

Well after a hot night I headed out to the pat this morning .When i arrived there wasn't a breathe of air tide was out .But I was hopefull even with low water.
I managed a few follows from tiny fish not hits .
I walked over the bridge from where I parked .And bang I'm on
One tiny out of foucs Bream sorry for the bad pciture , hopefully u can see it took the treble at the front of the lure.

Image
I continued on my way and coming back I did get lots of follows . And I lost a few undersized fish watched a pair of 40 plus bream in the rocks .Not certain what they were upto either fighting or mating lol

So after 3 hours i got back to my car what a warm morning .

Well another hot morning in Adelaide . So I decided to start at another spot on the Pat this morning .
Water conditions were good tide was low again but the wind was prodcuing lots of small waves .OR to put it plainly lots of movement.
But the temp was all ready hot when I got there at 6am .
So with very few follows I left this spot and headed along the steps.Moving from shadow to shadow with the odd follow and odd miss . I finally got lucky standing in the shadow of a palm tree and had a small hit .Which resulted in this tiny greedy bream getting caught on both sets of trebles clue to its length!!
Image
Image
This tiny bream was the second fish to fall to this strike pro pgymy lure coffee coloured see through with stripes .
I kept going and when I had covered the length of the pat I swapped lures .But that was it no more follows or hits .2 hours after I started I had arrived back at my car hot tired and at least I landed a fish .
So thats the end of my long weekend :)

Just use live worms - tubeys or bungums/sand worms, if you can get them. I've been using frozen bloodworms from two bloodworm runs ago to good effect, so even a few packets of those Dynabait freeze dried worms would be better than nothing - just add to salt water and away ya go. If you know where to find them though, live clickers are the gun bait. ;) A good tip is to keep your bait moving slowly. They love it. 8)

Incoming tide, early morning or late arvo mate. 8)

Went for a flick at West Lakes last Friday evening for the first time in about 3yrs, and found (well, they were never lost.. ;) ) a great bait solution for YFW... The Lake is full of an exotic worm called the 'fan worm' and they are highly abundant! They're generally found around the edges of the concrete steps in shallow water and 10-15 of them would see you through a YFW session. LOT cheaper than what the tackle stores charge ($9-10 a pack) for 2-3 bungum worms.

Sorry mate, haven't been on here much over the break. I used bungums and some little prawns I had in the freezer, got most of the fich on the worms but the prawns worked ok too.

Sunrise is the best time for mine, as far as comfort goes, but sundown is more prolific for fish biting.

Might be down there on the weekend myself.

When I first saw it I would have said Tommie.

I hate this sh#@t about the shark fishing I did it off all the metro jetty's 30 years ago and Bronze'ees was what I was after.
There are plenty there 50m from the jetty.
I just needed the wind and tide to be going the right way to get the balloon out.
I cannot believe those doing it now would be doing it illegally, as the cost of the gear is not expendable.
