I dont think its ever been done.
Strawb might know more but I reckon the Devils hold the record, they were number 5 seed in 1995.
I think the Oilers in 2006 are the only other 8th seed to make the Final

Yup you are correct. The NHL season is over for me but I will watch the cup. More into the AIHL right now.

It's always means nothing over there, as you never get a double chance.

All you get is a week off which sometimes is a bad thing.
