They are a very strong, fit side.

Couple of interesting travel calls by the ref tho I must say!! Lets hope we get a few more out next week against onkas so we can have a few subs this time!

Thats a pretty accurate summary Nev. At half time Flinders looked to be the goods only going in a couple of points down and with the strong breeze in the second half. But the taints played a smart brand of gaelic in the second half to ensure they always kept the lead. As you said we committed a lot of fouls which doesnt always make it great viewing but with the ability you guys have to put unders on the board it was certianly neccessary to not allow you guys to get a run on.

A couple of interesting calls but i think it was this refs first game so that was to be expected.

A special mention to Johnny Pegoraro in between the pipes....looked like a fitter version of his old man..!![/quote]

Did Johnny provide the same supportive words to the full forward as his old man???

Johhny doesnt quite have the same brawn as his old man to offer those types of verbal pleasantries...well not yet anyway.

That's probably a good thing, but it is always reassuring as a full back if you hear the full forward being told "if you get past him, i'm going to f*****g smash ya"

As predicted, without the Mitcham super pair of Fergal & Chris Carey running around, it was always going to be a struggle for Mitcham. It's still a big turn around in form tho.

How will the Taints cope with the loss of one of their key defensive men...? Look forward to seeing the Taints guernsey worn in all mandatory tourist photos..!!

Some good games this round. From a taints perspective not too sure what to expect against Mitcham. Knocking over the Farnan premiers then getting belted by W.I. A loss would certainly undo the important win of last week tho for us. i will tip the Taints by 5-10

Also think Onkas 1-5 and W.I 1-5

St Brendans 5-10
Onka's 1-5
WI/Na F draw

Mitcham will be more competitive than pre xmas, but without Fergal & Carey in the same team they won't be consistantly capable of challanging the top 5 sides.
An optimistic pick from Nev to pick Onka's by 5-10, 1-5 would be more conservative & likely.
As for my beloved Na Fianna, how could you go past picking us to draw  i'm getting a bit over it!

Not sure of the exact score but we got done quite easily by Onkas tonight, think it was 7-10 (31) to 0-13 (13) but I stand corrected.

Well done to Onkas, played a good game and got some revenge for their pre christmas loss to us. Unfortunately we struggled to get a decent side on the park, we kept trying hard but were outclassed by a better team on the night. Well controlled once again by Tommy too.

I say it every week but fingers crossed we get a few players out on the park this week, God knows we will need them against WI!!

Think I counted twelve first choice players out tonight, Todd McSorley, Nathan Elliott, Alex Haughey, Anthony Coatalos, Jason Delfos, Justin Palmer, Matt Morobito, David Eggers, Justin Kuhar, Simon Wegner, Dale Agius, and Tom Stirling. Hate to make excuses but geez it makes it hard!!

Can someone from NaFianna confirm...the guy called motorboat - rumours in amateur footy persist that he has a liking for soap and on the 09 state trip ate more than his fair share.

A very wasteful Taints outfit narrowly got over the line against Mitcham Hawks in textbook blustery conditions down at Gaelic HQ. Mitcham were much improved from the first time we saw them, and it took a beautiful left footed thunder bolt off the deck from Linc Rogers to seal the game for us! Best players for the Taints IMHO were Tony Huebner, Simon Scezeney, and Kymy Evans did some good things when put to the back line in the 2nd half. Good signs for Mitcham tho, i can see them pinching a few more wins before the season is thru.

As Neville said Onkas got up in what turned out to be a fairly one sided match. Speaking to some of the Onkas lads afterwards they were pretty stoked and thought it was their best game for the year. Aish Simper was in everything, Gabe his usual self, Wade was looking lively, and Matty Whitford actually played within the rules of the game and managed to stay on the pitch for the full 50 minutes...

Judging by the way my head is feeling today - pretty happy that the Taints dont have too many Friday night prime time games! $4 beers makes Gaelic HQ a tough place to leave... :partyman:

Well CT you guys did drink the bar out of the extra drys very quickly...

The big Z was also one of Brendan's best. The Hawks were also very wasteful mind you and really could have won it.

Looks like Flinders are experiencing their usual second half of the season problems and will struggle to play finals from here

Rupert, I was in the room at the time (even tho in reduced capacity) of the famous soap cake incident.
I believe the cheap hotel soap wasn't to his liking, he's more of a Country Velvet kind of guy & prefers a hint of aloe vera as well.
A very interesting post Rupert, not to many people would have this kind of information. Hor hor hor

WI too strong for Na Fianna last night.
Na Fianna's usually strong numbers were down with some key members not being able to make it. No excuses tho, the WI boys were too strong & ran much harder.
Best WI - Gags, Flo x 2, Mickan Na Fianna - Dirtbag, O' Rielly, Lawlor

It was also an interesting decision from the Association not to send a ref to the game.........

Be an interesting game this week between Na Fianna & Onka's with both teams more than likely short of players due to the BDO. Why isn't it a bye this year???
