I may be a little bias but I would have to say Townsend is the form player of the comp atm, hence the reason I raked him so highly

i put Klunny at 4, he is the big bloke isnt he?

Klunny is a similar size to D Flo with the blonde tips.

I too am sadened by the news of the SA mens team & will be discussing the issue with a poster on this forunm who may have coached the minors side to championship victory before (undefeated possibly).
Surely we can get some form of coach. I personally would say (if i'm lucky enough to get selected again this year), I'm happy to pay an extra $25 - $40 for the trip if that money was used to get a coach on board.
I would love to go to Auckland & right a few of the wrongs from the '09 Melbourne championship.

Yeah sorry - he is on your list. Altho he is a short stocky player that usually lines up in the W.I 10 man back line.

Similiarly to you are with the Taints Nev i am not that acquainted with F'ON players. obviously have some quality to get the results you have been getting. Look forward to seeing this Townsend at work on Sunday.

Who is the big bloke who plays for western ireland? Probably 6'3 or so and runs all day?

I think Rhys will prob line up on the half back line or midfield so keep a look out. We have had a couple drop out but we should still have around 15 players so we should have a decent side for ya

They have 2. Ross Christie and a guy from Willunga. Haskett i think it is.

Should be a close game. Whichever side wins will get a huge boost in the bid to make the top 4.

Ok Im not sure which one then, I reckon he started with the tap and played midfield (or at least seemed like he did) for most of the game.

A win would definitely be a huge boost for us, considering our post Christmas record has not been the best in recent years!

Thanks Swooper, I was saying more as a squad thing that if every player put forward a nominal sum to help get a coach. Ie. 20 players x $25 = $500. Plus any allowance from the association the coach would get would certainly be more appealing. AND if that's what we need to ensure we have a coach & hence a team I think most would be all for it if it meant that SA was represented in Auckland.
Anyway Swooper, i & others in last years have already gone deep in the pockets to ensure you got home from last years nationals if i'm right.
I did enjoy the WI 10 man back line call.

Friday night football

Onkas cricket score defeated Irish Soccer score.......10-15 to 0-2

Really disappointed that Onkas didn't declare their innings close and go for the outright....

We had a crack..despite massive cracks opening up...

No truth to the rumour that we will be challenging Callington in a challenge cup match

Emmett, Kavanagh named best in rooms after game...

GR31- That game last night was as bad as I have ever seen in 25 years of watching. I honestly think IA men would lose to IA Blues (Womens team). No tongue in cheek.

Flinders went down by 7 points to St Brendans. Was a hard fought game and probably a fair result in the end. I thought we had a good first half but let ourselves down in the second. Saints played a good tactical game in the second hald committing many soft fouls to stop our run. They are a very strong, fit side.

Couple of interesting travel calls by the ref tho I must say!! Lets hope we get a few more out next week against onkas so we can have a few subs this time!

Thats a pretty accurate summary Nev. At half time Flinders looked to be the goods only going in a couple of points down and with the strong breeze in the second half. But the taints played a smart brand of gaelic in the second half to ensure they always kept the lead. As you said we committed a lot of fouls which doesnt always make it great viewing but with the ability you guys have to put unders on the board it was certianly neccessary to not allow you guys to get a run on.

A couple of interesting calls but i think it was this refs first game so that was to be expected.

A special mention to Johnny Pegoraro in between the pipes....looked like a fitter version of his old man..!!

The keeper did awesome, saved a couple of certain unders! Well done to him!

Ive changed Townsend to number 1 in the league now with another dominant performance, slightly bias but he is quality.

The ref was ok in parts but a very inconsistent for my liking, but he will improve with experience for sure.

Well played boys, Im predicting a flinders v st brendans final now :)
