My point about bigger hooks was for bream.

Understand but have been told that before lost a mullie on a trout hook once ;) .My point big fish will take a small hook if they are hungry. But seeing I'm lure fishing these days it doesnt matter hooks are bigger .
And this tiny little Mullet took me two hours today .then I lost the $5 lure to snag .ahh well another trip to big W coming up
And apologies my camera phone was having issues with a mullet not staying still.

Now that's two species landed on Hard Body Lures !!!yippee And thats two species to one on $5 compared to dearer lures interesting that.

if anyone here likes yabbies, now is the time for you guys to head to the Riverland. You don't need a boat now as all the water has dropped back into the creeks. Had a mate went out last week with his missus. Pulled up in the car, had three lift nets and three opera house nets and they got their 400 yabbies in two hours off the bank. Happy to let you know a few spots if anyone wants to come up.
So you've seen everything have you?

Heard a whisper that the water temp has dropped to 13.4 degrees with that front over the weekend, down from 16+, and the majority of yabs have scurried back into the mud. Not much flow in the creeks, but the water is real murky, so something must be stirring up the bottom.. ;)

Should be better fishing metro this weekend after that big blow. Headed over to Pt Vic last Thursday night and headed out Friday in magnificent conditions. Bagged on KG's (36) in an hour, nabbed 10 big squid on the drift, then headed out beyond Wardang for 3 ruggers (2 on SP's) and a 4ft gummy. 8)

Managed to nail 20 KG's early on Saturday morning before things started to turn nasty. Headed back to the shack and within half an hour the N/W had increased from 20 to 30kts. Pretty glad to be back on land, just made for a looooong day when you start scotching-up by 11:30am.. :drinkers:

Not sure where you heard that. Step-father went out yesterday and bagged out in half an hour. I heard from one of the lock masters that they could be around for a couple more months. I'm sick to death of em anyway, so not fussed if they do disappear for the rest of the year.

BC, mate of mine in the Riverland earlier in the week, reporting on his efforts last weekend. Still bagged out, but took him a lot longer than previous sessions. Not sure where he's netting though. Main River, Katarapko, Chowilla..?? :?

FISH POSSESSION LIMITS - POTENTIAL CHANGES

THE State Government is looking to introduce fish possession limits for recreational fishers to protect South Australia’s fish stocks from exploitation.
Fisheries Minister Michael O’Brien said possession limits would restrict the number of fish that people can freeze and transport, bringing South Australia in line with the other states.
Mr O’Brien said many recreational fishers and community leaders had expressed concern that fish stocks were being depleted by those who freeze their daily bag limits and depart with commercial quantities.
“It’s been put to me that interstate fishermen are coming to South Australia and plundering our stocks because Victoria and New South Wales have possession limits and we don’t,” Mr O’Brien said.
“We welcome interstate visitors, but it’s important to ensure the sustainability of our marine environment.”
The move has been met with scrutiny by the opposition.
Shadow Fisheries Minister, Adrian Pederick, believed genuine recreational fishers must be protected against the imposition of over-restrictive fish possession limits.
“As the only Australian state without a possession limit, South Australia is vulnerable to intensive fishing forays from interstate that accumulate large quantities of fish to take back across the border,” Mr Pederick said.
“What’s vital here is that we recognise the right of genuine recreational fishers to enjoy the country’s most popular recreational pastime.
“A flexible system will enable the occasional or once-a-year fishing holiday to be fully enjoyed, bringing economic benefit and regional tourism without threatening our precious and unique fish stocks.
“State Fisheries Minister Michael O’Brien is talking about setting a possession limit at three or four days bag limit. This treats all recreational fishermen like cheats.
“A flexible system such as that operating in Western Australia would curb the real cheats yet allow the traditional family fishing holiday that is so much a part of SA lifestyle.
Mr Pederick suggested interstate comparisons should play a factor.
“The WA possession limit of 20kg of fish fillets equates to about 170 King George Whiting, SA’s most popular species,” he said.
“At current SA daily limits of 12 per person, this is a solid week’s fishing for two people.
“Other flexible options such as labelling and special permits could also be considered to ensure the fisheries’ sustainability and maximum possible benefit from recreational fishing.”
Mr O’Brien said PIRSA Fisheries would consult interested parties over the next two months and make recommendations for his consideration.
“I’m determined to keep it simple and to not impede responsible recreational fishing,” he said.
“The possession limit may well end up being a multiple of the daily bag limit.”
Mr O’Brien said he acknowledged that local government leaders and the State Opposition had expressed support for possession limits.
“I look forward to their constructive input during the consultation period,” he said.

Well I bought a brand new lure to try out today called a switchblade .It looked great in the water moved great .But the fish weren't around .The only "FISH" visible was a dolphin which has been prowling the Pat for the last three weeks .
So I just kept walking and casting was about to move to a different place at the Pat.when you guessed it $14 bucks down the drain.Snagged and the line snapped oh well shitty as I was feeling .
I tied onto my fluoro - carbon what can be called a natural looking see through strike pro pgymy lure .A very light brown with blue spots down the side of the body .I had purchased this lure weeks ago but nothing I repeat nothing had ever shwon any interest in it .I moved to a new location that wasn't very big, I had walked past it in the past .But have never fished it before.
First cast was awful a very bad cast and low and behold .What could be described as golden dive bombers under the water .Were just missing this lure .Next cast was better and bang .I'm on and with some drag tightening this rather nice 24cm Bream with large teeth had taken this lure.
Image
I continued on my way walking and casting. I have to admit a couple more bad casts brought more golden under water dive bombers trying to eat this lure.
Then just as fast they disappeared!!!
So switching to another pgymy strike pro lure in gold and orange.I had success in the past with this lure .I walked my way back towards my car.
Bream had gone quiet again .
When once again that golden shape appeared and took that lure!!!
So a smaller 22cm Bream foul hooked itself and it was well and truly hooked !!!
Image
That was 2 hours of fishing .All of the excitement was in the last 20minutes of fishing time .
A very nice way to spend an overcast winters morning in Adelaide!!
Believe me those 2 fish have taken me longer than 2 hours to catch its been a few fishless weeks!!

Very poor for us fishos at the moment. Doing the Browns Beach trek in the second week of school hollies coming up, hopefully the weather shows some remorse. Anybody got some stories to share from down that way?

I reckon he meant the Dust Hole = Daly Head. ;) Good salmon fishing can be had there on occasions. For some reason they respond better to pillie/fish baits than chromeys at Dalys. :?

Should be some decent salmon schools around The Foot now. Big, late-arvo high tides at Browns would be the go. Dust Hole & Gyms also worth a look. 8)
