sounds like a pretty bad bloke.

has done a sonny bill in Australia...does not like playing in europe and is not enough of a stand out to be a starter in the NBA

surely, in this day and age of sport being a business, the 6ers should just pay the man, loser or not, he's the best player in the league.

I don't think we would have won it all with Hodge anyway.Felt as thou he was playing for himself, to try and get back to the "Show". Never really felt they where playing as a team.
It looks like Grizzard may sign, hopefully this will go some way to settling things down so we can make a deep run into the playoffs.

Grizzard will be a pretty reasonable replacement. Very unlucky to be cut by Melbourne, but then again, if any team had a choice between him and Dave Thomas, it wouldn't be a difficult choice. Grizzard, though, will get the numbers out also.

As for Hodge, the general theme emanating doesn't paint him in a positive light at all. Scott Ninnis said it perfectly in the press conference: when a guy is saying they are the hardest working player off-court, such as going to do weights as soon as a game finishes and staying for extra training, and when the rest of the squad knows that neither thing is happening, then it spells trouble in any squad. Brett Maher also had some interesting things to say about public perceptions of Hodge and the actual person he is. Both reliable enough for me.

Thanks for the magic on-court, Julius, and for memorable nights at the Dome. Thanks also for taking your ego back home with you to leave a committed squad of players behind to fight on for the championship.

Julius's reply -

Fair call IMO, he is used to getting big $$$ in the US and Europe on time everytime, he comes to Australia to pay for much much less and then they stuff his pay around which the sixers admitted was late

probably needed some flexibility on both sides but facts are this aint all Hodge's fault like most are thinking

Sorry I don't buy that YouTube story Julius .... all he wants to talk about is the late payment but nicely deflected any questions about not turning up to training, etc. I'd like to see him subjected to a proper media conference instead of being "interviewed" by his mate

He couldn't buy Xmas presents apparently .... has he heard of a credit card for the sake of 4 days? :?

OK his pay was late .. but now he's been paid to the end of the year so he still walks out? What if he was playing for some of the other clubs his pay could easily have been 4 months late, rather than 4 days. You don't just walk out because of that unless you are looking for an excuse to leave. Besides, it sounds like the late training turn-ups were happening before the late payment.

See ya later Julius, good luck with it all

Not saying that what Julius has done is right but how many people would continue turning up for work or do overtime when they havent been paid...? Also what would happen if he were injured in a training session or game whilst he wasnt being paid? How could he have any confidence the 36ers would honour his contract? Its not as if the sixers have the best rep in that department. There was a story / rumour about 2 seasons ago that Brett Maher was considering other offers around the NBL because the sixers were well behind in his payments.

As Dutchy said both parties could have handled this much better. I would like to know for certain tho whether Hodge has been paid out the remainder of his contract and if so will he be paying that back?

He laughed when said he had been paid until the end of the year....lets not just believe on side of the story eh?

the story about the late payment is the fault of the 36ers though

the 36ers had paid into his nominated US account yet the payment was stalled by the bank ....

the 36ers opened an australian account for him and paid to the end of the season to show their faith

Is or isn't he fault of the 6'ers? You seem to be contradicting yourself there.

It doesn't surprise me, there was some big issues at the 36ers being reported earlier in the season before Julius was even with the team.
Good luck to Julius, hope he gets an NBA contract.
