Congrats on winning the GF Shimma and Western Ireland.

So now that its the silly season - does anyone have any GAFL player movements gossip? I wonder if the defunct Titans will lodge another team, or spread out over the remaining clubs?

Swooper i believe St Brendans should spend the winter working on regaining the services of Gino, and while we are at it perhaps he could bring Wade-o from Onkas with him

Talking to gino at the end of this season he sounded as if he's had enough (which is fair enough considering he is about 50) However his 2 twin sons should be old enough to play now so they could be 2 handy inclusions.

Also may look at teaching those young gods must be crazy kids how to play. Could be the Gaelic version of that movie the air up there.

Teaching them to do the score boards was hard enough Swoop, not sure if we could fill them in on the many grey areas in the rules of Gaelic Footy by the start of round 1! However at least they are used to 50 degree weather, so could be handy in the 2:30pm Sunday games in the middle of summer. Definately worth signing them up with a couple of cans of coke sign on fee

It has been quiet so far on the recruit factor. Have heard Na Fiana have a few new lads coming out. Think the goats may get the odd player out. Depends on how the footy seasons end up. But we are looking for a goal keeper and a few more numbers would be very handy.

On behalf of the goats we like to thank all the teams in the comp for making it a great competion. Also big thanks to Norm for running the league. Hopefully next year it gets bigger and better. And all the best for the league in running the state carnival in oct this year.

So does anyone on here heard of any recruits. HAve heard the Mountain Goats have picked up an irishman living in the country. He played his first year of Aussie rules and played well in the yorke penisular league.

Also the state champs kick off in a few weeks time at westminster. with a strong SA side, could this be our chance to challenge NSW and VIC

SA mens side knocked off the NZ team yesterday and today face powerhouse NSW. If they win it will book a place in the semi finals on saturday.

We drew with WA yesterday. NSW lost again so it will be hard for them to make the top 4. If SA win 1 out of the last 2 the should cement a top 2 spot.

Went and watched the Australian final on sunday. The bad news was that we got pumped by the Vics. The good news was that it was the first gaelic game i have seen run on time! Altho $10 per person was a bit rich. Some succesful haggling got it down to $5 but still a bit far fetched IMO.

Also interesting to see Clayton lush running around. He wouldnt have played in 2 years i dont think. Hopefully he has the 'irish itch' again and will be back out at St Brendans in 08/09

Has anyone (probably only Schimma) got any team news, with the season kicking off tomorrow night?

St Brendans got a few past premiership players back - but in true Gaelic fashion we are struggling for numbers in round 1 due to the Morphett Vale Emus footy trip...

I see the schedule only has 3 matches for round 1.... are there really only 6 teams this year?

On Friday night Onkas defeated Flinders O'Neil's to take out the Pre-Christmas Cup in slippery conditions down at St Mary's. Cant recall the score, but it was a close and often heated affair, Onkas having too many experienced Gaelic players in the end.

Perhaps Onkas will see the return of Wade Saunders (knee recon) after Christmas, so Onkas should be a huge chance of challenging the recently dominant Western Ireland.

Flinders should be around the mark as well, I thought they looked pretty good but their fairly dominant soccer background cost them IMHO, as they preferred to play the ball on the ground too often which cost them some under scoring opportunities.
