Good to see Wade Saunders back to some form. Has been a little slow in his recovery but his last few weeks have been back to some of his best.

After this convincing win Onkas have established themselves as the team to beat in the Hannigan cup. Should be a ripper.

Spot on Swooper. Defenders dont often get much recognition but for the second week in a row Clint "Silent N" O,Hara had a faultless game. Not super flashy but super consistent and never gets ambition and capability confused. He is another great example of the personell improvements you can make by being involved in the 7 a side comp. Its now been over 5 years since a team not involved in 7,s has walked away with the Farnham Cup.

Well done Onkas Men - got the monkey off the back - or was that a goat. Have recruited nicely, developed a team and put it all together when it counts. A few young Miniors in there too.

Western never really looked like they could reel Onkas in.

Definitely best game Clint has played in his short GF career - held his position at HB/FB well, read the play well, not phased by phast running phorwards, and attacked strongly out of defence. A real joy for this old FB to watch.

Wade coming back into some great form with glimpses of those lightning fast forays and elusive twisting and turning.

Enjoyed also Anto's show of strength in the first half. After an initial blood rush he steadied the ship and got the machine firing on all cylinders.

And Wristy, I gotta get a little semantic on you - it's the Jim Farnan Cup (not Farnham). I know where you're coming from but that joke's just worn a little too thin now. Jim Farnan was a great Gaelic man and we need to respect his name.

Bring back O'Neills footballs. Get rid of the Pakistani pigskins - they fall to the ground like loaded dice and bounce around like Mexican jumping beans.

No worries mate - Can anybody spell anymore? Jim & Betty (& Tom) will be fine I'm sure.

By the way - a couple more variations on all-star teams overheard at St Marys the other day:
The Eric McNeilly or Frank Healy All-Star Referees Football team - considering most Ref's have played; and
The Richie and Margaret Walsh All-Star SCOB teams (State Committee Office Bearers teams - Men & Women)

Sounds like an Unofficial website brewing.

Wow, good to see you havent lost any of your spark considering your mob forfeited the Semi Final. Didnt see you or ANY of your team out there Nev so i reckon labelling it a choke is a bit rich. Onkas were at there very best and the Goats a touch of the pace. I didnt see too many people slander your club despite the events of the previous week which could have been labelled much much worse than a choke. I know a few of the Goats read this site and im sure your statement should make for a very interesting contest next time you meet. Assuming of course its not a forfeit. Im looking forward to Schimmas feelings on the above statement.....

we dont make excuses wristy, we sucked, have not played a real game of gaelic for a good month since the Taints, and this hurt us + a few very handy lads unavailble. But onkas tore us a new one. Thought the day was well put on and the crowd was good. Well done to the Taints lads for helping most of the day with the Sound system and umpiring. its great to see a club like them get envolved and be part of the gaelic community, if every club put in efforts like them the comp would be run a lot better. As for us the goats we are very much looking forward to getting back on the park and chase down onkas, na fiana and the taints in a battle for the major prize.

Well said Schimma

Ill be putting up my team of the year (half year) in the next couple of days.Ive already done a rough copy and it looks pretty good.
If any of you posters have nominations from your own clubs id love some input, just to make sure i dont miss out on considering someone.
Due to the fact that i know everyones identity on this site please dont bother nominating yourself (milko)
The team already has several first time team of the year reps
Note; this is not an official team of the year as that is named on feb 25ish HOWEVER making the team now wouldnt hurt your chances of making the official team of the year a in a couple of months. That teams selected members gets an automatic Australasian Champonships invite

Thanks for the kind words about the Taints Schimma. Of course we'd much rather be involved in a playing capacity..!!

Saying that tho - the cheap bar prices, nice weather and high level gaelic has made it a couple of enjoyable Sunday afternoons down at St Mary's.

I dont know enough about each team to give a team of the year but from many of the games i have seen i think we have had a more even spread of good performances rather then the usual standout ones from the normal culprits.

For example i thought in Sundays final Aish and Clint (as previously mentioned) were HUGE for onkas.

My nominations for the Taints would be S.Sczezny, D.Fennoughty and Johnny Pegoraro.

From Taints def John Peg, future superstar (he's only a star atm)
From my mighty Na Fi, the motorboat has to be there, Ken Fay is almost a must, Cian (tall irish bloke) has only played 4 games but would be close & a massive sleeper that many would probably know (for the wrong reasons) Dangerous Dave Aston has had a stella start to the year. No vote for myself as it is banned....
& FINALLY are we allowed to nominate a person based on the fact that the one save they made was possibly the greatest save in SAGFA history???????

I see there are some new photos of the pre-christmas grand final games up on the very smart looking GFHASA website! Plenty of photos of Onkas starlets Matty Whitford and Gabe Phillips - ive already printed a few out to put up around the house...

Look forward to seeing your team of the year thus far Wristy! Will you be including any 7iside players in there? There are a few talented non State League affiliated players going about in there from what ive seen.

No exclusively 7 a side players in the team Mr. President. (You are the President are you not?) Still chewin over the panel. A few of your boys such as your Fennos,Schez,The Pom etc would deffinantly be worthy of a spot but not every one can fit in. Its tough to name someone if they havent fufilled certain other requirements ie;playing the majority of games. The other thing is my teams gonna have some big names miss out. Any how stiff shit, these excercises are designed to create discussion and im sure will only help facilitate the best 20/25 being named come presentation night.

Some great action photos from the GF's last weekend. Checkout the Karate Kid about to do The Crane in MF13.jpg; and Kramer MF33.jpg; Chachi airborne MF45.jpg; and what is going on in MF36.jpg. How bout some captions. Should get some crowd shots in future too.

Haha true on both counts but I guess its always fun to stir the pot a little, but you are definately right our forfeit was embarrassing! Im looking forward to our next game against WI, should be a beauty if we have enough players! And I was there at the game ready to play so I guess Im not who you think I am!

yep nev, both on the shortlist along with yourself (bd?) the love child mcsorely of course and tiny teena arenas name must be considered....lets also not forget choco loco who has been consistent in every game this year. matt moro in goals would be considered but wont be named based on the fact hes a ranga.lol.no scratch that, because you take the kick outs for him.

I'm sure you'll be taking good care of the team of the year. One thing i like about ur team of the year is that the best players in there position are put in that position. Unlike some teams that see midfielders littered in back pockets & forward pockets.
