6.5 to 1.11 damn you Valleys ;) but congratulations to Flinders in knocking off Na Fianna for the first time in their history. Too good on the day and deserved the win. Very disappointing day for our club going into the bye. Big games coming up v Onkas and St. Brendan's and if we don't improve very quickly in all areas we will find ourselves competing for the stiff shit cup or whatever you call that Div 2 thing they do.

Onkas v St.Brendans was a cracker and a pleasure to watch after the shit we served up. It was a sharp, fast, contested game of Gaelic football. The best game I have seen this year by streets and this would be my early season tip for the Hannigan Cup final based on what I have seen. It was great to see both teams making the ball their primary objective. It made for great Gaelic football.

Yep very good game of gaelic between Onkas & St Brendans played in the right spirit I thought. Onkas had a good 7-8 mins into the breeze where St Brendans couldn't get their hands on it - proved to be the difference in the end. Is Gabe playing this year..?

Somewhat surprised by the Na Fianna / Flinders score - altho when we played Flinders a couple of weeks ago it was the first time in many a year where it felt like Flinders were playing as a team rather than relying on individuals.

Fingers crossed for Mitch Portlock who had to leave the Western Ireland / Irish Australians game with an injury. Was ripping it up until that point and would be a massive hole for the goats to fill if he were to miss any significant time.

Goats won that game 2.12 to 0.4 from memory.

Yea that Onkas/St Brendans game sounds like a cracker, wish I hadve seen it.
And agreed re Flinders, they are definitely at their strongest since I started playing gaelic footy. Seem to have picked up a few good Irish guys, and are a lot better than the Flinders of previous years. How long would it have been since they won 4 in a row?

Many many years. They made a GF in 99 so maybe then. They are sitting 3-1 BTW not 4-0.

Cant discredit the work that we have done in the off season. Dale Agius and Val Ward have taken on the coaching reigns and have devised a game plan built around team work and quicker ball movement. Obviously (as swooper eluded to eariler)- we were very much a side built around individual players and had a lot of selfish characters (whom have since been moved on) and have brought in an influx of irish lads who are great on field leaders to lads learning the game and great characters off the field.

By no means are we walk up challengers for the Hannigan this season, but work is now in progress to see us begin to challenge for the Hannigan title in the next few seasons and build away from the Division 2 success, that whilst its great to have, can quickly settle on a mediocre mindset.

That's how it looked yesterday. The solo is a skill, knowing when and how to use it even more so. Dale is a legend and a bloke that won't take shit from selfish individuals. It was even nice that some of the Flinders old boys were out watching on Sunday. Even your Irish lads seem to be team orientated and I'm afraid that's not always the case. If you keep that group together and play team football you will ascend to finals sooner rather than later.

Just to spice up the forum would you care to name some of the selfish individuals that have moved on :)

Don't let it happen again or your name will be changed from Lutz to Putz

Flinders v Onkas this Friday is 1 v 2. Who woulda thunked it. Last years 4th v 5th are now 1 v 2 and last years 1 v 2 are now sitting 4th and 5th. Already a third of the way through the season. Hopefully it will be another cracker of a game.

Dear God don't get me started  what I have seen this year has been comical and difficult to explain. If your gonna strike make sure Big Jollys head is at the end of your fist because that's fine but if you wear black and green and fart in the wrong direction you miss a month.

Haha wristy i'm not one to name anybody. There were a few irish lads that didnt quite fit the culture we were trying to create is all i will say.

As for the footy / soccer contingent- really only Todd McSorley (who is pursuing soccer committments I believe) is a noticeable absentee from last years side but we have a fair few handy players filling the void. A long way to go yet in the season but hopefully we are around the mark come march.

Has anyone else noticed cards being given more often/freely this season??
I believe there's been 4 reds in the 4 games I've played in this season, while I wouldve only seen 1-2 in the previous 50 games I've been involved with... It feels like the refs have been more liberal with the yellow's too.
