My point is having 6 clubs with 3 men's teams each actually allows for more players to play. Rather than starting new clubs new players could develop through a stable clubs reserves team. Rather than 7 men's teams as we have now we would have 18....

Good to get back out to gaelic park yesterday.
The warm temperature didn't stop there being two quality games of girls football. Bit of an upset (from an outsiders view) in the first game :D

Good work from the Flinders men who had umpiring duties on the day. The effort to save the Northern goals was awesome after some pretty extensive damage was done during the break (presumably by local holigans).

Looking forward to our playing return on Friday night & then to the biggest night in South Australian Gaelic Football on Saturday night. :partyman:

What damage was done MBK? Dam youths!

Also looking forward to playing on Friday night - have about 10 BBQs and 5 slabs to run out from the break... the Taints take on Western Ireland at the vampire friendly time of 9:15pm. Havent seen a ladder in months but it must be 1st vs 2nd/3rd?

With Aussie Rules training starting up for some clubs - anyone having any luck getting their Irish team mates out to Aussie Rules? We are trying to get a few of ours out for a kick.

The cross bar had a large bend in it (probably lowered the height by a metre) & the goal posts were bent a bit as a result.

I too am also feeling the need to run off a couple of sessions.

Last year we had a couple of the Irish lads come out to one footy session, but ultimately went to soccer clubs. It's a bit tough for our Irish lads as all Irish people live at Glenelg or nearby suburbs & most of our footy guys are located in the East to North Eastern suburbs. Makes a long commute to footy each week.

I posted the ladder on the last page, but because you're a good guy, I also sent you an email.

Any Taints lads coming to the biggest night in SA gaelic this weekend? ;)
*all are welcome to 'tee off' for SA gaelics biggest night!

What are the qualification rules for sevens finals? Like is there a certain number of games that a player has to have played?

The web page is in the process of being updated and all ladders and fixtures with ref duties will be available this week.

For those of you having trouble finding the Gaelic social 7s schedule go the schedule and click on the pdf at the top of the page and the full schedule up until finals will upload.

7s does start again tonight. Good luck to all teams and to the new refs who will blow for the first time.

Perhaps a little controversy down at St Mary's park last night.
One non state league affiliated team very unhappy with their treatment.
Pretty sure I can guess who the suspect in question is!!! ;)

BBQ on wheels will be at St. Mary's tomorrow night to celebrate Millsys engagement. :)

It is a great little van with tremendous variety and flavour filled food options. For it to become a permanent fixture it needs our support. They don't charge us for their attendance and actually give part of the profits back to Gaelic.

It's forecast to be a nice warm night with the smell of the BBQ van, the lure of the bar and 3 great games of Gaelic.

I know the Na Fianna men are particularly excited about playing their only State League game in January so there should be a good crowd and great atmosphere. Particularly looking forward to watching someone else play the 9.15 game ;) and what a cracker it's gonna be. Always a ripping contest between the Goats and the Taints 8)

Pretty sure Millsy has looked in to hiring the BBQ van to cater for his wedding...

Due to the draw, postponements, and the van bailing us for a Christmas show, this will be the Taints first run in with the BBQ van. If they are still serving when our game finishes (about midnight) then we will certainly sample their wares, or skip a meal and just get breakfast for Saturday!

Also good luck to Na Fianna on their pub crawl. MBK in answer to an earlier post sorry dont think any Taints will make it along (but cheers for the invite), as its the birthday of St Brendans stalwart Jazz Bazz's missus at club sponsor The Warradale, so thats where we'll be!

Its also Na Fiannas first interaction with the Friday night Delight travelling meat van. I thinkk they may get a little bit of Green and Black business to the point where it may still be open for the conclusion of your epic battle. Im certain your game wont go over time CT and you will be off the pitch with meat in your mouth by 10.30pm...just another friday night brother ;)

Having had a couple of run ins with the BBQ van, I'll vouch for its goodness!!!

Cheers for Pub crawl well wishes. Zoe, likes to include everyone in gaelic & as a result it looks like being a pretty massive turn out.
Around 50 participants already confirmed, with the final number probably getting closer to 70!
So look out for anyone wearing crazy golf attire (sadly my bright light blue pants fell thru :( ) in the city's south & supporting many of the sponsors of the SA gaelic footy clubs!

Should be a fantastic night, compliments of the club!! :drinkers: :partyman:

Great night at Gaelic park last night 8)
3 good games of Gaelic played in good spirit :D
The food van very well supported and kept busy until 10.30 selling out of several products
The umpiring and ground set up done well and on time by Port Districts
The bar being busy all night, Na fianna and St. Brendans are generally catalysts for this occurence
Spectators were present at the ground giving the place some atmosphere
All 3 games were very well refereed

Well done to everyone involved from all 6 teams

Na Fianna over Irish pretty comfortably, and Taints vs Mountaingoats ended in a draw! Taints had a few chances to steal it late on, but that would have been harsh as Western Ireland played the better football and controlled the game for the majority of the night.

Irish Blues over Na Fianna in the dames.

Had a BLT from the BBQ van at about 10:45pm, top stuff!

Good work to the Port boys running the night, especially the scoreboard attendant who wasn't afraid to call for penalties, shout encouragement, and offer a few "pleasantries" to his teammates behind the goals!

Port were good on the running of the night. The running commentary from the sideline was very impressive.

Any news on Sundays result?
A win would've been massive for Flinders chances of a top 4 birth.

It wasnt to be unfortunately Milky.

Flinders well outclassed by Onkas in the 1st half against the wind, Onkas very good at flooding forward making it very difficult for flinders to move it out of defence.

The 2nd half was a bit more even with flinders sqandering a few chances at that elusive under.

The game was done and dusted though when Onkas kicked their 2nd goal and ran out winners 2.14 to 0.3

On a bright note for Flinders and to quote our good friend Breaking Balls. It gives Flinders a real chance at a crack of winning the Div 2 key ring for the 3rd year in a row ;)

Surely are now paying $1.01 to take out the Div 2 trebble!!

Onkas looked very good yesterday (both their outfits and the way they played)! Was very hard to hear an Aussie accent out there but good to see the boys getting back on the winners list!!

Not sure where in this conversation we started shooting our mouths off about other clubs...

Anyway onkas did look good and completely outplayed us, we were very disappointed with our efforts in the forward half but losing our two best forwards in Tom Stirling and Anthony Wilson before the game didn't help

On a side note the goal umpiring was poor, didnt affect the result in the end but a bit disappointing to see the goal umpires lazing around on the ground and not paying attention to the game. Made some very average calls. Bit annoying when as a club I believe we have performed the role quite well in the past
