You must be Peter Henderson! No wait hang on he didnt play for Na Fianna or St Finns.

What about Tom Andritsakis, Mark Booth or Stuie Clement? But I don't think they played for Clovercrest Gaels. What about Paul Blute?

Hendo - now there's a blast from the past Wristy. Brilliant player - don't know where he is now though. I can tell you now WW, I am not Eamon Power or Steven Hickey either :?

BR - Other highly respected FON players retired years ago.

Not Blutey either - didn't play for the Crabs. I wasn't as good a player as him - but neither was anyone else :D

Firstly I probably know as much if not more than what you know about the Titans situation.....Oneills

I doubt it.

The Titans were kicked out of the competition primarily because of their off field antics (powerpoint presentation etc), they would have not been banned due to their on field behavior.

The Titans were kicked out because of their club culture over a period of a few years, and included their behaviour on field; on the sidelines; as match officials; and the off field stuff like the Website and the PP presentation, amongst other things, sealed the deal.

There is no evidence linking Daniel to the core group or committee.

This is about how Daniel's peers (Current players, Club Delegates, and State Committee members) perceived his position within the Titans' leadership group at that time - which clearly extended beyond their committee. (By the way, I am not currently a player, Club Delegate or State Committee member).

We will never convince each other, but I hope our opinions offer some balance to readers of this topic. I too look forward to the matter being handled by the Australasian Management Committee. Whichever way it goes, we'll all have to accept the outcome, and the consequences, and just get on with it. Personally, I'm all Titan-ed out. Hopefully this is the last comment from me on this topic in this forum.

Good luck to all concerned.

WE HAVE OUR 8th TEAM FOR 7 A SIDE SO I ASSUME THEY WILL SLOT INTO BLACKWOODS DRAW. WELL DONE TO THE WESTMINISTER/MERCEDES BOYS.

Well done lads. Good Luck. Are Pat and Tony looking after the team?

That means that Irwin All Stars should get the forfeit against Blackwood (as scheduled) as shown on the ladder, and therefore the win, the match points and the score difference. That would put them second instead of last.

Or do they play a catchup game with Westminster so neither team is disadvantaged?

Huge game this week between Onkas and the Taints with the loser most likely going to miss out on Finals Football.

There is a fair bit of respect between the 2 sides but that will be put on hold for an hour. Should be some cracking matchups:

Benny Way running with Gabe.
Whitto Vs Zeus in the battle of the dour fist.
Wade vs D.Fenno
And possibly Anto Vs Gino in the battle of the geriatrics.

This game should be well worth the price of admission (free)...

THIS WEEKS TIPS....FINAL ROUND B4 FINALS,ALL GAMES SUNDAY

W.I v I.A...Goats by plenty.15+

MATCHES OF THE ROUND
NA FIANNA V FLINDERS....Flinders by 1-5. It looks a real possibilitie that these 2 teams will play each other 2 weeks in a row. This game could be a dress rehersal for the Farnham Cup Semi 2v3. Should be a good game. Could easily go either way.
+
ST BRENDANS V ONKAS....Onkas by 1-5. Its most likely that its mothballs for the loser of this one. Onkas have had the weeks break and would be very keen to defend the JF Cup. St.B still have injuries to key players and are post X-Mas specialists. Theres still enough match winners there for the Taints but i think it will be Onkas just. Onkas could finish in 3rd or 4th place. Should St. Brendans win they could also finish in 3rd or 4th place. Interestingly enough if St.B win by 1 point they will still miss the finals.

So it appears W.I+FON will occupy positions 1+2 respectively and the make up of 3rd+4th could be made up of any combination of NA F,ST.B+ONKAS. It will all come down to Sundays results and the seasons goal difference. Quite an interesting finish to the season indeed.

Wristy,

Any word on whether clubs without a referee will definately be docked a point?

Will you be brushing up on the many nuances and many more grey areas of the great game in the referees course Wristwatcher...??

The refereeing course that was postponed from early October has been rescheduled for this Saturday November 28 2009. The course will be held at St Mary’s Park, is open to men and women of all ages, is free to attend, and will run from 9am to 5pm and include both theory and practical training! The course is open to anyone wanting to become a referee, or just interested in gathering a better understanding of the game. With the Gaelic7s competition well underway, there is now the opportunity for qualified referees to call games on Wednesday nights, Fridays nights, and Sunday afternoons. Referees are paid $30 per game, with Grade 1 referees paid $35 per game. Remember, it is mandatory for each state league club to provide at least one umpire for the season. If you would like to attend the course, email info@gaelicfootballsa.com.au for more information.

No unfortunately i have a prior commitment on saturday.I will be touching up my sea cockle collection and stamp collections....
Well done to James Gallagher who made his ref debut on wednesday night under the watchful eye of Tommy "Whistling Yoda" Javor. Showed good composure and sound decision making. Lets hope its not the last time he blows this season.

TIPS

Flinders 1-5 - tough game to pick but cant pick against the Flinders train after 4 straight wins
St Brendans 1-5 - after playing both sides I felt st brendans were the more dangerous side, but all depends on whether they have a full strength side
Western Ireland 10-15 - Ladder positions tell the story, WI by plenty

St Brendan's will certainly be coming out all guns blazing this weekend - starting bright and early at 9:00am Saturday morning when we send Brock Landers and another 10-15 potential referees to the referees course to see if the GFHASA will award us a bonus premiership point or two - or at the very least some bonus percentage...

Looking forward to the clash with Onkas, the hole day should be a good exhibition for Gaelic Football down at St Marys on Sunday.

Haha I must say that I was quite amused at your comments during the game to rob....."You're outa here!" Had a little chuckle! Not sure who we will be sending atm, not sure if we have anyone.

Not bringing up the debate again but still dont see why the clubs should have to provide refs and be penalised if they dont, surely with the amount of cash we fork out every year it would cover this!

I 90% agree with you NB but the issue i think is that there is not enough refs to give this ca$h to. $35 a game is pretty good money for what is essentially an hours work.

It does seem a little odd that each club MUST provide at least one accredited official but i guess desperate times call for desperate measures. Hopefully they get enough people attending the course on Saturday so that this is the only season the committee will have to resort to "gaelic conscription"

its sooo not an hours work.the game time is an hour yes.but also there are several pieces of pre and post match paperwork including best player votes.game preperation such as chasing officials, pumping balls, team sheets
etc.there is also the fact that Batman no longer lends me the bat copter and transportation to and from the ground (in my case 40mins - 1 hour).means that those that ref are generally not doing it for its rich financial rewards.as a matter of fact i would recieve upto $200 for umpiring a state league mens game of saafl. the major 3 reasons or positives for sending a club rep to the course are
1. Helping the association have a stronger/richer resource pool to use.
2. You could be a member if not the member of your club that actually understands the rules and technicalities of the game
3. Improving the quality of ref,s...you may actually be really good at it and even enjoy it whilst improving your own or your teams game.
bonus point
4. you get a shiny little medallion if you ref a grand final.its ideal as a paper weight or door stop.

No it wouldn't cover it.

And is still cheap compared with many other sports.

Increase Ref's payments to $100 a game and increase amounts for side line and goal officials to $20 a game to bring somewhere into line with other field games in Aussie sports culture and we might then be able to attract people from outside clubs to do it. That would increase cost per game by $143 - split that between the two teams - only an extra 70 odd bucks a game for each team.
Yeah - that should do it. Just get all clubs to agree - FON in favour?

The mantle returns to FON. Dave Flo and Westeren held it for a long while. (At least they cop it sweet).
