Havent rated Murray at all yet. Still a fair few better players than him around. It proves Federer was right in what he said pre-tournament about Murray being equal favourite.

SPOILERS

Safina on top, 6-4, 4-6, 3-2 in the third with a break in hand. Dokic will need something special.

UPDATE: It's 4-3 with Safina still holding the break. Dokic had a break point chance in Safina's last service game but unfortunately couldn't pull it off. Running out of chances, you feel she needs to break in this coming game.

UPDATE 2: And she has broken back!! It's 4-4, she hits the winner to level things and put this set back on serve. Regardless of the result, you've got to hand it to Dokic for her incredible fight. There's been a lot of debate over whether she's a true Aussie or not but one of the things we're known for is fighting spirit; she's got plenty of it; she's an Aussie. 8)

UPDATE 3: Safina breaks her again to go up 5-4 and serve for the match. Dokic fought her heart out again but you would think Safina will get through from here.

UPDATE 4: And Safina wins 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Huge props to Dokic who went beyond all reasonable expectation in her return tournament. She'll be back up there again.

We are getting a terrifying look at Federer's pre-2008 form here. Absolutely clinical.

Also Courier was talking about how while Fed is the most complete player he's seen yadda yadda, the poor record against Nadal still sticks out. We all know most of Nadal's wins have come on clay. Nadal is obviously superior on his favourite surface, but he hasn't really been able to get deep enough into a lot of other majors to face Fed on the other surfaces. Hopefully they meet in the AO final and that record can even up!

It was a training run, of course he looked good. The classy players always look good when there is no pressure or intensity.

As for the Nadal/Federer H2H, it's 3-5 on non clay in favour of Federer. But Nadal has won 4 straight and obviously owns him. They haven't met on hard court since 2007, Rafa is a lot better now.

All-time Nadal is 12-6 over Federer and that's not even including the '07 Battle Of The Surfaces where Nadal beat him. Nadal's beaten him on clay, hardcourt and grass. Federer hasn't beaten him since '07 and they played four times last year and Nadal won of all them.

Thought Jelena did very well last night.
Considering that most had her going out in straight sets.
She just needs to work on her unforced errors.

Looking forward to seeing more of her in the near future.

Federer's loss to Nadal at Wimbledon was the killer. Fed owned that court and to lose to Nadal there was a big big dent in terms of records, surfaces etc. As seen at French Open last year Federer is not in the same country as Nadal on clay and will never beat Nadal on clay. I hope he does but it is unlikely to happen.
Success is in trying

Well done to Jelana Dokic last night and for the tournament. She was great to watch and finally we have an Aussie back up there.

What would she be ranked now in the world?

Well said Ma ... You'd think she has the shots to be a legitimate contender, but as you said I guess it depends on how well she can address the unforced errors which regularly undo a lot of her good work.

Williams wins the second set, both with one a piece now.

Williams winning 3rd set 3-1, she might have pulled off a great comeback.
