Yes I'm told a number of issues were once again covered last night. The current lack of a coach of the mens team would be of slight concern, but i'm sure we can find someone to take care of this. If anyone knows of anyone who would be interested in the role, please inform your local committee member.

Whilst that is all very important WW, I'm sure the forum fans would be happier to know that the 2nd coming is on it's way!!!

That's right, Matt Doecke has a mini god on the way. Certainly some strong gaelic football pedigree in that child!

I believe the duo of Toby Javor & Jeremy Fay are taking the rains of the Junior team/program.
It is unknown at this point if any water carriers/on field coaches from Onka's have been approached

Perhaps we could brainstorm some potential men’s coaches?

Na Fianna: would have a few potentials, Mick Lawler is still around the place, and Kenny Fay and Junior have been round the scene for years.

Western Ireland: the plethora of Floreani’s would be an option, however John and Dave have both had kids in the last few months IIRC, which could hinder their availability.

Onkas: Anto an option, as would perhaps be Whippedford tho I believe he has headed to Whyalla for the foreseeable future. A smokey could be that Pedler who plays for Onkas – who personally I don’t know at all tho I believe coaches Old Iggies in the SAAFL?

St Brendans: Millsy and Gino stepped in at this point 2 years ago and did a fantastic job, tho I believe are now keen to give some one else a shot. Actually I havent spoken to Gino for a while so am unsure as to what his thoughts are on going round again.

Irish: DOECKE would be a candidate – he might as well do it as we already rely on him to drive the busses, organise local tours, kick maximums etc tho the pending arrival of Mathew Junior (I imagine the child will change their name to this whatever they call it) could rule him out.

Carey and Tommy G from Mitcham, Nees and Benji from Flinders, there are other options out there. The new boys Port are picking the game up quick, possibly some potential coaches in here? Rocket Smitheram is a SAAFL coach already etc

Another option IMHO is to possibly case the Irish who have arrived in our league recently. Find out if any of them have any coaching backgrounds – or have come over with anyone who does. Na Fianna must have 6ish Irishman of various ages, Irish Aussies had around 5 on the weekend IIRC, we have 3 young Irishman, and there are others around. Perhaps some of these Irish lads could be the coach – or know of some other coaches who aren’t currently involved?

Well they will need someone with the Ability to attract the best from the other teams. and to work on a good structure to suit the players we have in SA, Mick Lawlor is a great with the tech side of the game, while Jace Fay would be a greta motivator. Maybe a joint coaching venture could be an option. eg Gav o'reilly and Junior Henna, both have grown up together both no the game inside out and both have the respect from majority of players out there. Gav will be the motivator and henna more the tech side of thing. Also Think Robert Ogorman would make a great captain and would love to see a bare chested wrestle with him and the not in my house Javor...

Surely an intellectual debate between Rob O & Bruno Rocca would be a much more enthalling contest???

Mick is the technical genius of Gaelic football in this state, but don't think Mick would be too interested in doing it again. He's currently enjoying the joys of retirement & teaching little Lachy the art of Gaelic football. Junior may be interested, but unsure about Gav (surely he has another kid on the way soon  )

I do like Zues' idea of asking some of the Irish lads if they know anyone who might be interested in getting involved in coaching.

The other combination i think that could take us too our first senior championship since 1983 and hasnt been mentioned yet is the dynamic duo of Damien "Moose" Emery and Wendy "Mocca" Rocca 8) . They have already taken Mawson Lakes up a division and im not sure when Wendy is due but this could well be the leadership team to turn around the States fortunes. Perhaps the ongoing rivalry between Moose and the possible womens Coach may be the only problem from stopping us from making an offer to team 'RoccaMoose'

Don't know if there is any rivalry between the said too. I think the problem is that Moose only has two jokes all of them are about the probable women's coach & he won't except that from a guy that wears leopard skin jocks & has hair that is out of a lego box

Club must be on fire with Robert O'Gorman assistant coach and there best player, was a great year to only lose a grand final to a C grade side.

Throwing another name out there as possible coach maybe a little left field Kyle reeves is coaching (assit ) at Broadview. or how about a joint flo gig, they both got 2 small ones but could split time.

RESULTS FROM LAST NIGHTS 7s

ST.BRENDANS 5.12-27 DEF WEST IRELAND MINORS 3.11-20

ANGRY LEPS 5.13-28 DEF THE BEACH 5.7-22

TIGERS 5.15-30 DEF DINGOES 1.3-6

FLINDERS OLD BOYS 5.12-27 DEF NA FIANNA 3.11-20

ONKAS 5.24-39 DEF STEVE IRWINS 2.3-9

A special thankyou to the GINPEG Gino Peggararo who made his debut as a ref last night as a favour to me to help cover for the many injured and unavailable refs. From all reports he gave a good account of himself and displayed fair and good consistency. He would probably develop into an excellent ref but i cant imagine you will see him with the whistle in hand too many times in the future. Well done for helping out though :D .

Played in the game and Gino did a good job, especially for his first game. Was consistent and that's all you can ask for as a ref! A win for flinders puts them right back in the finals race. What is the schedule for the first week of finals? 1v4 and 2v3 or 1v2 and 3v4

1 v 4, 2 v 3. Winners to GF. Not sure what we are going to do with the Div 2 side of things. I will be speaking to all the teams this week in the final round and make a decision then.

Haha no need to worry about me wristy!

St brendans win on Sunday all but rules out any slim chance we had of making the div 1 finals...although beating western Ireland ourselves tomorrow would have been most unlikely anyway.

After debuting 7 new players last week and playing with 21 men we are looking at reducing our numbers and bringing a few of the minors up along with a few experienced heads to guide them through. Fingers crossed we also may see the debut for the club of a former team of the year forward for tomorrow's game. Still expect WI to be too strong but shouldn't be a walk in the park
