Definitely not one for the ages, but 16-14 in the 5th!

I expect Sampras will present the trophy!

Wow...Roddick played REALLY well. Full credit to him, absolutely unbelievable. Would've said that even if he'd denied Fed history, he just could not possibly have played a better tournament imo. I'm upset for the poor ******* here, lol.

Obviously congrats to Fed too, world #1 again and stands alone at the top of the heap. Both would've been deserving winners here no question.

3 Stories from this match:

A-Rod served for the second set tiebreaker at 6-2, but lost it 8-6.
A-Rod had his serve broken once for the whole match, yet he lost the match (16-14 in the fifth!)
FedEx becomes the greatest winner of grand slam tournaments. His only achievement left is to win a grand slam in a calendar year. If he can win the US and Australian Opens and get 4 in the period of a year, he will assume another level of greatness.

A-Rod was very unlucky.
FedEx becomes an even greater phenomenon.

Congrats to Roger Federer 8)

Nobody deserves to lose 16-14 in a 5 set epic
Roddick only lost serve once
That was in his 40th service game.
I feel for the guy

Must be some kind of record, a bloke losing serve only once for the whole game over 5 sets.

Bloody tired right now, but glad I stayed up and watched....

The serving from both players was phenomenal. Roddick only losing serve once in a match that long (and against a guy as good as Federer) shows how very well he played. Great effort. For the first two thirds of the final set he looked the most likely of the two players to break serve but the last few games he started to get a little bit loose with his groundstrokes unlike the rest of the match where he was so solid of both sides. In the end Federer deserved to win but Roddick didn't deserve to lose. A class act though acknowledging the reception he got from the crowd as well as acknowledging Federer. To be honest the reception Roddick got when accepting the runners up award seemed much louder to me than what Federer got when accepting the winners trophy. Has earnt a lot of respect from that match has Roddick.

Federer though was always able to pull out something special when it was needed particularly on serve. He served an incredible 50 aces for the match. Two service games in a row in the fifth set he was down 15-30 and came up with three straight aces to win those games. Came back from 15-40 in a service game early in the fifth with either aces or unplayable serves. You just got the feeling the longer the game went on the less chance there was that Federer was going to be beaten. What a champion.
