Well just a quick Post went to what is now known as Booney's beach(as I met him there ).A fair few small fish who's eyes were larger than their mouths .Fair few jumps at my surface flies but no takers .
Nearly caught 2 seagulls as well must be a good indication that mt flies looked good enough to eat.
Was a bit frustrating tiny /small fish jumping at my fly and seagulls dive bombing it at the same time !!!

Over my trip down to Robe I tried 3 spots with only having luck at one!

Tried long beach third ramp at first and only found that the crabs were taking our baits...

Was then taken to a beautiful spot in one of the back beaches at Robe, only fished there for 2 hours and managed to land half a dozen salmon, with the biggest being around 3kg... We also lost what was probably a sting ray by the way it was taking line, unless it was a shark! One of the blokes I was with also had a dive and got some abalone which were amazing to eat! Straight on the bbq!! We were trying to get some crayfish but all were undersized. I'll certainly head back to this spot during the year...

Worst thing was that my ugly stick snapped for no apparent reason.... :( :(

And I had this little voice in my head this morning .It told me to look for a fly I tied last year and never used .There was something about it that made me never choose it .
Well it got jumps galore this morning .And there were times that 3 fish would jump one after the other at it and of course just the odd jump.I did have a tiny fish tail spit it.But in one group of three fish this is what took it.

Picture does it an injustice its all of 19cm   ;)
I did try the next beach for zero .
So at least after 2 hours today I got something ;)

I can understand why he gets so excited, because there aren't too may times he even catches a fish   . As they old saying says, a bad day's fishing is always better than a good day's work. I went fishing New Year's Day and got bugger all myself. One undersize callop and two silver perch. Got extremely drunk though. :D

Swamp Donkey mate you tie your own fly then go wade in water and see if you can catch one . ;) Same spot couple of months back School Mullieway took and spat a smaller fly(barbie pink popper) .

And if a little old lady hadn't walked past the other day would have had a 30cm plus Bream taken on a popper fly .

Yep I understand there small (I actually stop when the Bream are smaller than the fly I'm using )but its fun ;) Hardest way to catch a Bream is on a fly .And west lakes is only performing for bait fishers at present.

I should like to add 2 points that Swamp Donkey has missed
1 I find it fun to Fly fish and a fish is a fish .
2 my fish pictures keep young Jas amused in Scotland .Surely that's a good thing we have enough angry legs fans in Adelaide ;)

Not to give a Fishing spot at west lakes away .But the footpath that runs next to the lake has a lot of foot traffic .And its a fair height above the water(that should be enough of a clue) .If you look into the water you often see Bream up to 40cms( as well as mullieway snook garfish) sitting in shallow water feeding .Thats where I was wading and casting .

So why always so sarcastic SG ?

Well, what a friggin exercise that all was. Junior Boon ( 13 ) and his mate were going to come with me, then at 5:45 this morning Little Miss Boon ( 9 ) wakes up in a right mood and ends up, somehow, tagging along. Great. 1 bloke taking 3 kids fishing means no fishing for me.

Anywho, there 10 minutes and the three of them go for a walk, sweet! Pull in about 10 small tommies in the next hour and a half and have just arrived home empty handed.

Might try at dark myself and I mean by MYSELF!
