True but dont get many chances to gloat, have to make the most of it, have added a bit of depth this year which im hoping will hold us in better stead post christmas...that and the fact Brock sounds like a knob :)

Good on ya Nifty Nev. I'm a knob because I'm telling it how I saw it? :?
Waterboys shouldn't get involved in fights. They might end up making the team like that gridiron documentary featuring Adam Sandler.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to this weeks games. Xavier Minnicon's forcast looks a bit more cunducive for fast exciting Gealic fooball for Sundays games, but it still could be pretty hot on Friday night.

Are we still going on about this?! If memory serves it was your player who elbowed our player - who is only a 17 year old minor mind you - hence why a few Taints lads possibly took issue with it!

And i think our goalkeeper "losing his lunch" at halftime :vom: and our replacement keeper being :drinkers: had more to do with us losing the game than us losing our heads!

Cant agree with you there wristy...sounds like a top drawer piece of banter there from whom ever was responsible for it.

Looking forward to seeing how "St Nick" copes going against his old team. Coaching staff may bring Gino out of cotton wool just for 5 minutes....could be fireworks (but no land speed records)

Haha think I said something similar during our game......hope its not me your talking about!

Doubt it, you'd struggle to come up with something witty.

Friday nights results...
FON 7.8-29 def IA 0.2-2
BEST FON- J "Palm Dog" P,Rhys "39?" Townsend,Tommy "Tina Arena" Sterling,Ant "Zippy" Coatalas,Matty "Ranga" Morobito +Benji "6,ovdabest" Dumovic
Best I.A- Mick "Rooter" Emmet, Paddy "iRISH" McPADDY + Dakes
Sad to see upto 19 I.A players not present including guns Toasty,Platts etc.
FON were very solid even without "the chocolate locomotive","THE x FACTOR and a couple of others.Great to see JP back to his 2005 Australasian championship and selection form (too bad about his coaching record)
ONKAS 4.13-25 def Mitcham 2.6-12
Best Onk- Adrian "Tafe" Maccolino, Pauly V, The Phillips,Sam "chewbacca" Janetski + Wade "Sexy" Saunders
Best Micham - Andy "Dirty Sox" Westergeen, Chris "Johnny Wilkinson" Carey + Mase

From what ive seen in the first 5 rounds its safe to say neither Mitcham or I.A will be playing in the semis.Whilst according to my calculations and expert analysis Onkies and Fon WILL be playing each other in the 2 v 3 playoff. Which leaves the Goats as likely 1st place finishers to possibly play the winner of this weeks game of the round St.Brendans v Na Fianna.I could be wrong but im not normally. Heres hoping some of the commitee make special guest appearences this sunday avo for such a big game so we dont have a repeat of tonights game 1 farcical situation of...having a pregnant lady doing 1 goal,jp,s dad doing the other and a Fon official having to do the line.....Do i need to call my sudaneese friends back this season.I see them more than i see some commitee members.
IF I HAVE OFFENDED ANY COMMITEE MEMBERS FEEL FREE TO COME AND RETORT MY REMARKS.YOU CAN FIND ME AT ST. MARYS EVERY WED,FRI AND SUNDAY.I DO REALISE THAT PEOPLE MAY HAVE SPECIFIC ROLES AND CERTAIN DELEGATED TASKS BUT WE HAD A HALF A GAME TONIGHT WITHOUT GOAL UMPIRES AND STILL NO DAMN BALL PUMP.I READ A LOT OF FANCY E MAILS BUT E MAILS DONT RUN FOOTBALL COMPS,PEOPLE DO. IF YOUR A COMMITEE MEMBER AND YOUR TEAM PLAYED FRIDAY NIGHT,ASK YOURSELF,DID I FULLFILL MY ROLE,SOME DID.SEVERAL CLEARLY DID NOT...
SEE YOU SUNDAY....xxx

MATCH OF THE ROUND
NA FIANNA 2.9-15 def ST.BRENDANS 0.9-9
Best Players
NA F ; Nick "Motorboat" Jolly, Gav "Movember" O,Rielly, Gavin "Irish" Flarhety, "Dangerous" Dave Asto + Kris "JNR" Hennesy
ST. B ; Benny Way "Fox Sports News", Mike "Zues" Zaluski, Jordan "Juggernaut" Peggeraro + Fenno

A good game played in brutal conditions with good spirit. The 38/39 degree heat was stiffling so there wasnt too many desperate chases (bar one amusing 120m chase by some old fat guy). Both sides showed a good skill level when in possesion and will be a threat to all teams in the post X-Mas comp. The only dissapointing fact was the lack of a lines person and scoreboard operator on the far side. I think ive discussed enough about lack of officails in previous posts. Well done also to Adrian (Ref) who seems to be improving with each game. Finally well done to both teams on their sportsmanship to each other and the official as games played in those kind of conditions can easily become heated. Pardon the pun.

This weeks tips in the penultimate round....

Na Fianna v I.A....NA F 10-15. Despite 30 players on their list.the I.A turnout on friday was deplorable (11 players). Na Fianna are slowly gaining momentum after the draw with W.I followed by an excellent win on sunday over reigning Hannigan Cup champs St.B. The ten new players in the team are beggining to gel together and improve each week. Hopefully both teams will be able to field their strongest squads on fri at 9.15.

Match of the Round
W.I V ST.Brendans....Goats by 5-10. The boys from the west will still be stinging from their draw in their last start. St. Brendans are missing the likes of Millsy, GinPeg, John Peg and 1 or 2 others atm.It was great to see the return of former State Captain Clayton "Chippy" Lush however. The Goats have an excellent record v the Saints and should have too many forward options in this encounter.

Flinders v Mitcham....FON by 5-10. All bar one half v W.I,Mitcham have been extremely competitive this year. They have excellent run through the middle but are perhaps a key forward and defender short in the early stages of their Gaelic exsistence. FON are the pre Xmas specialists and its the damage being done by some of their second tier players thats making them so dangerous. That and the experience factor of the FON,s will allow them to cement their spot in the finals.

What a fantastic chase from the great man, the ability to chase so far & be on the lip the whole way, just awe inspiring! Altho the last 30m was spent saying "kick it now".
Also how was the "buddy Franklin" shrug from the same individual to slot an impressive over

not to mention the run back with the double lead (not honoured-damn that kenny fay) followed by the collapsing to all fours with a hint of dry heave. one for the highlights package no doubt.

I believe there may be an appeal submitted shortly to the national board and depending on that result there is talk of Della possibly getting other areas involved, but cant say too much at this stage.

In regards to the national appeal process I wouldn't think the state vice president would have anywhere near the influence he does in the state committee process. Lets hope there is an unbiased adjudication without the influence of personal vendettas against any individuals and some type of substantive evidence to back up thier "allegations"

hey nev what does it mean by getting other areas involved. from what i remember della started an all in brawl with blokes running off the bench to get envolved. pretty sure he got a red card then and that was in the last season he played. And his mates got told never to come back. but oh well good luck with that. I dont think u lads need him and have a good chance at it this year anyway.

Have to say last fridays game against na fianna got a touch heated but both sides kept there cool and both showed great respect at the end of the game. Thought the umpiring was a touch under par but it was even and that is all you can ask for. Na Fianna just reacted better then the goats. Great to see Tommy "the magnet" Javior get plenty of it friday. well done tommy keep up the good work.

Guess all will be revealed in good time. All we are hoping for is a fair hearing. From what I have been told, it appears that this is impossible in the state set up so looks as tho Daniel will have to lodge an appeal with the national board.

From what I have been told (but dont quote me on this because the association is yet to provide the club with a list of allegations) this incident you are talking about happened in a 9 a side game in 2003/4 and Della was not sent off.

Murderers get off lighter than a life ban, and players that hit umpires get 12 weeks, yep pretty consistent

Nothin to do with murderers - or law - or natural justice. It's a game. It's all about the rules we have that allow the MEMBERS, via their CLUBS, through the State Association to run the GAME. Not some Board, or Commission, or mediators like other sports.

When the Titans were kicked out it was because of a long string of escalating incidents, culminating in some pretty offensive stuff directed at every level of the game and the Irish community. They were arrogant - and proud of it. It was about their club culture. Their general membership tolerated it - nobody spoke against it. Ultimately their leadership group is accountable and the general membership was indirectly responsible - hence the club being EXPELLED. No life bans.

The rules for players from expelled clubs are different to players suspended. They must re-apply for membership to the State Association. Fortunately for nearly 90% of ex-Titans players, it is likely that their peers (the other clubs) will allow them membership. Unfortunately for a small group regarded as the official, or unofficial, leadership group, or those perceived to have influence, they may be denied membership by the committee of the day. That too, could change over time. Unfortunately for Della, he is regarded as being part of that group.

Ultimately, your character is your destiny.

Bring back O'Neills footballs.

Get rid of the Pakistani pigskins - they fall to the ground like loaded dice and bounce around like Mexican jumping beans. They are cheap and nasty and cost more in the long run cos they have to be replaced more often.

lets hope some of the commitee read that post.well said ONO.ITS CALLED DELAYED GRATIFICATION I THINK.in my coaching and clinincs an O,niells ball would last me several years where as Gaelic gear would invariably be out of shape after several weeks.without fear of contradiction im happy to say "shitty balls"

URGENT NOTICE...

Unfortunately the day b4 the 7 a side competition was due to begin 1 of the new teams has withdrawn. This leaves us with 7 teams. Ideally the comp needs to have 8. We are looking by next wednesday to find an 8th team. All the information you require regarding Gaelic 7,s can be found at our website....gaelicfootballsa.com.au Games are on wednesdays at St. Marys at 6.45 or 8 pm. The comp itself runs until DEC 9TH. It recommences on 13/1 with the GF played on 10/2. We would encourage any of the current State League clubs to register as it is an ideal training tool for State League and if your squads have large numbers this comp may facilitate all players getting a run each week. Its no coincidence that the last 8 Hannigan and Farnham cups collectively have all been won by teams who were or are involved with 7 a side.

Anyone else who would be keen to register a team would be encouraged to do so. A squad of 8-12 players will do the trick and the entry and coordination of a team for 7,s is much much simpler than in other leagues. Other benefits would be the fact that grants are available for new clubs if you look in the right areas and pubs are generally petty keen to offer generous sponsorship when new teams offer to make a pub their function/meeting/after match venue.

Guilty by association.....guess we should start persecuting the brothers and sisters of criminals....

Anyway, I believe it is in the hands of the national body, so I guess we will just have to wait and see what they say
