Again no substance with your comments just insults. He might be a lot of things but the media role out the spoilt line as you do. How is he spoilt?

I don't consider someone who has earned everything himself, got to the top of his profession world wide when he really shouldn't off given his build to be spoilt. If anything he did it the hard way. He has a lot of money but he has earned that himself. I don't see he him throwing his money around to any great extent, still pays taxes in Australian unlike most of Australian top sportsman. Just because he has the skill and ability to be world class at something and you don't you roll out the insults. He was born into a family with a bit of money but they also made a lot of sacrifices, again your above comments smack of jealousy as do most people that bag the guy.

You don't have to like him but at least make up your own mind up and don't be swayed by the media.

No disrespect, ca, but you're making a few assumptions there yourself. Without saying too much, I do know a bit about the inner workings of the Hewitt camp. No one is questioning his skill, ability or loyalty to his country, but I'm afraid a lot of what the media says is not incorrect. There are a number of aspects of his tennis youth that I won't repeat on this site, but suffice to say, there were a number of first hand examples of how he behaved growing up, how his parents treated him and aspects of his dealings since that are not mere fantasy in the media.

Childhood experiences ultimately influence your adult persona.

We all know the stories mate, one or two of them exaggerated as they have been passed around. Like many I have seen some ordinary things that went on, although not the day he played me as he cleaned me up but that is all a long time ago. No doubt you were an angel when you were growing up  In the end for a lot of people its just jelousy that someone they came accross when they were younger has been so successfull and done it the hard way to some extent. Many just can't handle that as they are not used to it in Adelaide.

This mornings article was one of the best articles Cornsey has written, in particuar his points about Rasheed. Spot on.

I wouldn't be surrised is he retires soon, his best tennis is behind him and I think we woud all agree on that.

Why is it every time a high-profile Australian is criticsed - whether they are a sportsperson, actor, businessman, whoever - we hear the inevitable cries of 'tall poppy syndrome?'

It's right up there with in the BS stakes with being 'un-Australian.'
