Really fun game too, enjoyed it, even if I do hate both teams.

Winnipeg get taught a lesson in their return to the NHL, losing 5-1

And Pittsburgh lose to Edmonton 1-2 in a shootout

Yeah we tend to have some cracking matches against the Lightning, need to get some early wins and create a gap between our other rivals.

Sure is so far.

Goal for goal so far and it's 3-3 with 16:16 left in the second.

End of Regulation

Tampa Bay 5
Washington 5

Not a game for defence. As the NBC commentator said, an entertaining game if you don't follow either team, an agonising game if you follow either team.

Overtime ends with no change to the score, and it's a shootout. Who will be awarded that elusive 6th goal...

Pretty awesome game, not one if you're a fan of defence though!!

None of the big names scored from 10 combined goals, that's the shocking thing for me.

Awesome stuff Caps.
Thats our gamestyle, we have terrible defence but awesome firepower up front. Very good to watch but doesnt win playoffs.
In regards to big names as a massive Caps fan Chimera and Johansson are huge for us and are usually on the scoresheet. Semin tucked away the winning pen and he is perhaps our best player

Semin your best player?? Big call!

Yeah Chimera's a great team guy, blazing speed. Johansson is a great young player, should be given an expanded role.

I reckon Semin has really upped his game and probably just shades Ovechkin at the moment. Really close call just happy to have them both. I dont think we will see another pair like them for a while at the Caps so we really need to win the Cup in the next couple of years. Noticed we are favourites with bookies, obviously they dont take notice of post season form :(

Pittsburgh extend their record to 3-0-1, and open their second season at Consol Energy Center with a 4-2 win over Florida.

Also, it's the first time since 1973/74 that Pittsburgh have gone 4 games into the season without conceding a power play goal.
