The more I watch SANFL again, the less I like EPL (not that I was a great fan of ELP anyway)

The trouble with Rugby (the Union type) IMO, is that they play to touch too much these days and the running game seems to have all but gone.

I think it depends at what level you are quoting Tassie.

I would agree at world level or EPL level, the game as it used to be has all but gone. Money has had something to do with it as has the influx of European players whose "style" was always different than the traditional British game.

If you watch soccer at the lower league level, the game is still played more in it's raw state, harder tackles and less diving. It still is essentially a contact sport, and to be fair, the same analygy could be drawn with Aussie Rules, the lower leagues (SANFL for example), where the game has pretty much remained true to it's origins whereas AFL has become more sterile.
Just a personal opinion of course
